For this assignment, you will be finding an article on your own from a reputable news source, reading it, and then using your critical thinking skills to analyze and evaluate the perspective the article takes and the evidence/information presented in it. Remember: you are not presenting your own ideas/opinions or research about the article’s topic – you are evaluating the quality of the article itself. In doing so, you should consider the following criteria:

Please begin your essay by introducing us to the article you chose by stating the title of the article, the publication where it appears, and the author’s full name in your intro paragraph.
Is the article making an argument, or is it strictly informational? If it makes an argument, what is its primary argument? Are there any secondary arguments? If the article seems to be simply informational, what kind of information does it seek to give the reader?
What makes you consider the article and/or its source (newspaper, magazine, other website) “reputable”? What are the qualities that make it seem reputable to you?
Evaluate the quality of the author’s examples or evidence (quoting some examples from the article). Do you consider the evidence convincing? Why or why not?
Does the article make any assumptions that are not grounded in evidence? If so, please explain.
