As a group the theaters had 52% earned income and 48% contributions. Based on ART’s 990s, website, and any other information you can locate, how do ART’s finances compare with its peers?
Discuss the tension between maximizing audience size and ticket revenue on the one hand, and the aesthetic mission of the theater on the other. What challenges are presented by the shift from a subscription model to more single-ticket sales? Do you agree or disagree with how Diane Paulus and her staff were meeting the challenges and balancing the tensions? Why or why not? 
Compare ART’s strategy to the New York City Opera case study in Worth. Based on the information in the ART case study and associated readings, how can ART best maintain both its vision and its audience? What are the most important variables for sustaining ART’s success?
