Peer 1:
Globalization has introduced Canada to a variety of cultures, including foreign languages, foods, and religions. As a result, Canada is now known to be one of the most culturally diverse nations in the world. As a result, microcultures have developed, drawing on customs of traditional Canadian/Eurocentric culture and others from India, China, and Italy, for example. This is seen in many countries around the world where immigration is celebrated and as a result, has made the world a more culturally diverse place. Take, for example, a family from India who celebrates their traditional customs, religious beliefs, and speaks their native language. A second Indian family moves to Canada, learns English, and adopts some of the social customs practiced in Canada. On the other hand, a third family from India moves to South Korea, and adopts some of the Korean social customs, and speaks Korean. Because of globalization, we now have three unique cultures, one being of the Indian-Canadian family, the second being the Indian-Korean family, and the third being the family that still live in India and practice the typical Indian customs. Globalization has not homogenized cultures but instead has allowed multiple influences to come together to create new cultures.
