What to write about:
What were the main developments, figures, debates, and topics during this wave
of feminism?
Provide 2-3 illustrative examples.
How to use the course material in your paper:
o Review the lectures and linked videos relevant to the assigned topic and
use them to come up with the points you will include in your paragraph.
â–ª You are expected to AT LEAST reference the lecture and one
related video.
â–ª Beyond that, you may optionally reference additional videos and/or
the assigned reading.
â–ª Effective reference to the assigned reading will certainly get you
some bonus points, but it is possible to get an “A†for a well written
assignment even without it.
•••See the sections below.
How to write this assignment:
Review the lectures and linked videos relevant to the assigned topic.
Make an outline with all the points you think are important to include in this one
paragraph, 5-8 sentence summary.
Fill out the outline with examples to substantiate the points you are making.
Your paragraph should be clear, concise, and well structured.
Follow the Writing Instructions on paragraphs from Week 3.
Keeping in mind that this assignment is just one paragraph (rather than a
paragraph that is part of a longer essay), here are some further tips:
o The rule of one main idea per paragraph is already incorporated in the
assignment, as you are asked to focus on either the Second or the Third
Wave of feminism and nothing else. To follow this rule, please:
••1
â–ª Make sure that the first sentence of each paragraph introduces the
main point (i.e. not just the topic of the paragraph, but the gist of it).
â–ª Write the rest of the paragraph as connecting or contrasting points
and sub-points, elaborations, and examples.
â–ª Make sure your sentences within this paragraph smoothly transition
into each other, and are not randomly arranged.
â–ª Make sure your concluding sentence briefly synthesizes the main
point of the paragraph.
