The documentary is broken down into 5 segments, and highlights suburban, urban and rural poverty, looks at a number of the causes of poverty (job loss, healthcare crisis, level of education, generational poverty, natural and man-made disaster, etc.) and examines the perceptions of people in poverty. Additionally, the consequences of living in poverty are discussed, such as the mental and physical health outcomes for people in poverty, and the challenges of rising out of poverty are reviewed.
