Remarkably, this position appears to be rather unique in the healthcare environment, as you may also become a certified nurse practitioner, a clinical nurse specialist, a registered nurse anesthetist or a certified nurse-midwife (Dahlin & Coyne, 2019). It means that this certification provides a wide range of professional opportunities and individual possibilities for growth and development. As a future APRN, I would be interested in the position of a certified nurse practitioner.According to my academic findings, this profession requires a solid theoretical and educational background, as a future nurse practitioner is expected to provide advanced healthcare services independently. At the same time, as a healthcare provider, you would be invited to deal with the representatives of different categories of the population. In other words, strong communication and listening skills, empathy and diplomacy are the core of this profession (Diggins, 2017). As a certified nurse practitioner, I would be called to promote healthcare practices and work on disease prevention among the most vulnerable patients. Furthermore, my leading objective is to introduce educational healthcare practices aimed to increase the medical literacy and individual awareness of my patients. Additionally, healthcare counseling, diagnosis, prevention and management of diseases would become a central activity in my professional nursing practice. That is why a future specialist needs to be ready for eventual challenges that would arise in a real clinical setting.To conclude, it is essential to highlight that my vision of the role of an APRN may not be complete today, as I have not acquired sufficient experience yet. Besides, I am persuaded that quality improvement and education would become an integral part of my professional practice.
