The font must be 12 Point Times New Roman. 
In Paragraph: Indents and Spacing: The spacing must be 0 before and after. The line spacing must be double.
THINGS TO AVOID
1.  Don’t rehash the plot. 
2.  Don’t tell who played what role on the stage or off.  A list is not acceptable. 
3.  Don’t give it a thumbs up rating or a star rating 
DOs
1.  Do Have an Introduction which includes a Thesis Statement. 
2.  Do Have a Body which proves your Thesis Statement. 
3.  Do Have a Conclusion. 
4.  Do tell me what you think about the play. 
5.  Do give a specific example to support each assessment you make! 
The most common fault with a critique is that no reasons are given to back up statements or observations, either positive or negative. 
Always ask yourself “why” your statement is true and be sure to include that reason! 
Write using your aesthetic judgment which will include your sensory, emotional, and intellectual responses to the production:These responses may be linked to a specific context.(e.g. economic, political, historical, or moral considerations)  
At a minimum write one paragraph for each of the following areas:

   B.  The central idea or theme/desired audience response
   C.  Emotional response of viewer/audience 
II.  The Acting (20 points) 
For each major character assess: 
   A.  Motivation/sincerity (why you believe in the character)

           2.  Articulation (intelligibility)
           3.  Vocal Variety (changes in pitch, loudness, rate, etc.) 
   C.  Physical quality
           1.  Naturalness
           2.  Use of Gesture
           3.  Rapport with or awareness of the other actors 
   D.  Externals
           1.  Use of Props 
III. The Technical Elements (20 points) 
       A.  Scenery, including props 
       B.  Costuming 
       C.  Lighting 
       D.  Sound 
       E.  Make-up 
IV. The Direction (10 points) 
       A.  Use of stage space 
       B.  Pictorial composition (if the play just stopped at certain points, what pictures would you see) 
       C.  Blocking (the movement of the characters) 
       D.  Pacing/Timing/Rhythm 
       E.  Creation of an ensemble (blending of talents) 
F. Choreography (if viewing a musical)
