In order to prepare you for your presentation, you are required to submit a Formal and a Speaking outline. They can be submitted as one document, but I have provided them as separate examples.I will be attaching the outline Each student will present for 4 – 6 minutes. The oral presentation will be on a specific topic of science as it relates to the concepts we are covering in the course (Psuedoscience, Science and the Environment, Politics, Business, etc). Find a news story or source of a myth that falsely depicts that scientific topic that you are interested and explain the misconception that that news story is reporting, and a scientific article that supports it. Images, graphs, and videos (not exceeding a minute in length) should be incorporated to supplement and help explain content. Slides should not contain only text. Students will be required to present PowerPoint slides during class, and slides will be submitted to the instructor using Canvas. In the presentation, the student uses speaking skills to communicate his/her message including proper verbal and nonverbal techniques, and all elements of introductions, main points, and conclusions. The presentation will be graded with the Dialogues of Learning Oral Communication Rubric. You must properly apply and integrate credible support for your ideas by citing your work during your talk and creating an APA-style reference slide page.In addition to the criteria above, you will be graded on the quality of your slides. Your slides should follow the 6 x 6 rule: limit your text to six words per line, six lines per slide. What’s more, your slides should be professional in design. Avoid distracting or unreadable fonts or color combinations. Also, refrain from using excessive slide animations, which can be annoying and appear unprofessional. Your slides should also be written with proper grammar, punctuation, and style. The presentation will be graded with the Dialogues of Learning Oral Communication Rubric. Be aware that all submissions to Canvas will be run through Turnitin to check for originality. Do not simply copy and paste text from your original article! Slides will be submitted to the instructor via Canvas by 11:59 pm the night before your presentation. Presentation dates will be at random. You are also required to submit a speaking outline with your presentation slides. If the date of presentation is missed, there is no guarantee your date will be rescheduled. This assignment is worth 15% of your grade. You are also asked to record your in-class presentation. These videos will be submitted to Canvas after your presentation is completed. I will upload a link about uploading videos in a separate link. Please write speaker note too
