Assignment: Field Notes 1
Writing is a continuous part of the fieldwork conducted by an anthropologist. It occurs when the anthropologist observes and records information about the community being studied in the form of field notes. These research notes are then compiled into a larger scaled essay/assignment or ethnographic document. In Week 1, you studied the various approaches to anthropology and presented a brief summary of your current understanding of what indigenous means. This week, you identify at least one indigenous group for your field study and provide reasons why you selected this group.
To prepare for this Assignment:

Review the assigned readings in the course texts.
Summarize your current understanding of indigenous identity.
Select one indigenous group from either Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, Pacific Islands, or South America.

By Day 7
Submit a 1- to 2-page paper in which you do the following:

Identify the indigenous group that you have selected and the region the group lives in.
Explain your reasoning of why this group is considered indigenous.

Discussion 1:
There are benefits and drawbacks associated with employing internal versus external consultants. Some organizations, despite the availability/competencies of an internal consultant, still require employees to assist in change efforts. 
Think about a time that your organization underwent a change. Provide details about your organizational change example and offer information about the change. Then, detail if an internal consultant or an external change consultant was hired. Based upon the type of individual consultant who was hired, make an argument for the opposite. For example, if your organization utilized an internal change consultant, argue why it might have been better to select an external change consultant and vice versa.
Discussion 2:
Many businesses utilize waiting lines to manage customer service. For example, banks, amusement parks, supermarket checkouts, fast food restaurants, call centers, check-in counters at airports, emergency departments of hospitals, and so many more. In the course of your week, consider an experience you had that led to a temporary demand for service that exceeded capacity, for example, variation in service duration or arrival rates, which led to a waiting line. 
Address the following requirements:
Explain common measures of system performance and which of the common measures may be most effective for the business where you experienced a waiting line. 
Describe why that measure would be effective and develop a strategy to minimize the waiting line while minimizing cost. 
Develop a calculation to aid the business in making their operational choices. 

Questions:
1. Which activities you think she could modify in order to keep doing them, and how?
2. Based on her living conditions (e.g. physical and social resources, impact and pain of OA, and level of disability), what steps in the SOC model, do you think she is likely to use, why?
3. First, how much “fit” (balance between competence and press), do you think she currently has? Does she “fit” in some ways and not others? How?
4. Using “systems” theory (four layers of context), where do you think resources are need (what level) to help her better age-in-place?
Note: The SOC steps are: selection, optimization, and compensation; and for these questions and answers, I am also looking to see that you cite from the article by Cignac, Cott, and Badley’s (2002).
Note: the four layers of context are: 1) personal-individual resources and abilities, 2) small-group/relationships with other people (e.g. friends, family), 3) social-network in community and neighborhood; and 4) social-cultural factors—services, systems, policies. And, in this section, I am also looking to see that you cite the article by Greenfield (2011).

Introduction: I still want you to try and explain (as best you can), why these three theories (SOC, Competence-Press, and Systems Theory) are useful in studying the daily lives of older adults. At this point, I’m less concerned about you trying to define each. But, you still need to mention and describe what you will be doing in your essay.   
Conclusion: What else do you think might be missing, or what else can/should be done for her? What might these models be overlooking in finding solutions or ways to help maintain her independence and quality of life?

2-How will you present your product to doctors and patients? Why is your product better than previous products?
3-What form does the drug or treatment take (pills, IV, aerosol)? 
4-What do you think the likely dosing and frequency of administration will be (hourly daily, weekly, how much drug per dose)? 
5-How might insurance companies view the product? Are they likely to see this as replacing an existing product, or is this a completely new form of therapy? Explain why the companies will see it that way. How does this change your potential marketing?  
6-Based on FDA requirements, what key points of information will you need on your drug label, and how will this affect your advertising and marketing strategy? 
7-What types of intellectual property do you see being developed for your product? Keep in mind this includes not only the drug but potentially the delivery system, as well as other types of IP for marketing purposes. 
8-When in the process will you start applying for intellectual property? 
9-What type of post-marketing studies do you anticipate doing? Is your drug something that would benefit from being available over the counter? If so, how do you intend to get it there? If not, is there any potential to grow the market for your drug?
