Application Assignment #4
Read through California’s Master Plan on Aging. The beginning introduction can help you understand the importance of these issues and give you great citations to use in both this and your paper(s)!
https://mpa.aging.ca.gov/ (Goals main page)
https://www.aging.ca.gov/download.ashx?lE0rcNUV0zYXf9JtT7jkAg%3d%3d (Goals pg 11)
Choose one of the bold goals listed on the main page of the website or page 11 of the PDF and skip down to the pages that cover that goal and read them.
Summarize the goal, the importance of it (using citations!), and some of the ways this plan suggests we improve this issue for older adults.
Pretend you are on the committee for achieving this goal. Write a paragraph with suggestions for things they should consider (if not mentioned already), with tangible resources that might help. For example, if you are talking about Goal 1 and they mention making outdoor spaces for all ages you could refer to this document as a toolbox for creating age-friendly communities for older adults: https://www.giaging.org/documents/130402_GIA_AFC_Primer.pdf ; or this as a suggestion of a tangible action to take: http://www.walkable.org/download/walking_audits.pdf

solved You will complete Part I of the Final Project Worksheet.
/in /by adminYou will complete Part I of the Final Project Worksheet. Â The first step is to choose the case study that you plan to utilize in your project. You will notice that some case studies include more than one potential client. For example, in the case of Jim, the 14 year old adolescent, you may opt to focus on the family or the teen. After you identify the case and choose the client, identify one presenting problem or mental health issue for counseling focus. Â
Now, put your counselor hat on. You have an identified client and a presenting problem. Where do you go from here? As a counselor, you have an ethical responsibility to provide competent practice. There is an expectation that you will utilize interventions that are supported with empirical research. Â So, your next step is to identify an intervention that you would like to use with your client. Â For your project, you will investigate current counseling research related to the intervention in order to make an informed decision about evidence based practice. To launch your research, you will formulate a research question to guide your investigation.

This documentary focuses on the unsuccessful homes that Frank Lloyd Wright designed while attempting to re-invent himself in Los Angeles in the early 20th century. Time has changed the opinions that once surrounded these homes. In addition, the film digs into some depth regarding what helped to influence the style of these homes.Journal Questions:Describe which home/s or segment/s made strong impressions upon you while watching the film. You are not limited to just one.How did the home/s or segment/s make you feel and/or think of?This film often refers to the homes as being unfriendly and or the product of someone that was disturbed. Do you share the same views? Explain why or why not.Do not go to Google for answers to the questions or supporting information. The journal experience is about you telling me your very own thoughts and opinions while viewing the documentary film.If any portion of your entry is not yours, meaning you used/referred to other sources, your journal entry will receive a zero.Writing your Essay:Write a short essay that answers the above questions and provide comments about your own viewing experience.Quality is better than quantity. Be sure to stay on task. Citing and quoting from the film may prove helpful as does referring to particular time segments (at 12:16 when such and such is mentioned) when the name of the artwork might be in question or to better support your idea. The purpose of this exercise is to promote critical thinking. Be sure to provide detailed and supportive answers.

/in /by adminTask:Discuss the role of music in a single film. You can choose any film that you like, even if it is discussed in the text. You are not limited to Hollywood films, as international films are acceptable.WHAT TO WRITEYou should choose a film that you enjoy and can watch multiple times. In your paper, do not summarize the plot. It should not look like the Viewer Guides. Please focus on the music. Here are some possible approaches:A narrative approach allows you to talk about the film as it unfolds and analyze the music as it appears in the film. This is the easiest approach and also the least interesting. Still, a good paper that focuses on music can achieve an A grade. You can choose some of the basic qualities of film music (see Chapter 4) and treat one or more separately. This places the emphasis on music more than in the narrative approach.Taking a point of view is the most challenging, thoughtful approach. It is especially recommended as a practice for those going to graduate schools. Decide on a point of view about the music in the film and support your view in a logical manner that does not depend on the narrative or the mechanical listing of musical characteristics. Possible subjects: the role of source music in a film; how does music reflect changes in a character or situation; how does music support the theme or message of a film.Requirements:Format: typed with double-spacingLength: 3-5 pages or longer if you use wide margins, big print, or picturesUse a formal writing style. Grammar and spelling will be considered in your grade.A bibliography is not needed; use footnotes only when appropriate.

/in /by adminStudies estimate that between 15% and 43% of girls and 14% and 43% of boys will experience at least one traumatic event. Out of those children who experience trauma, 3%–15% of girls and 1%–6% of boys will develop posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) (Erk, 2008, p. 246). Risk factors for the development of PTSD include the severity of the trauma, parental reactions to the trauma, the amount of parental support given to a child or adolescent, and how close the child or adolescent is to the trauma (Prout & Brown, 2007, p. 231). Often, young children show signs of PTSD in their play. For example, children who experienced sexual trauma may act out the trauma by using dolls. Adolescents’ PTSD symptoms often mirror those of adults. There are many treatment options for children and adolescents with PTSD, and no matter the type of treatment you choose, it is important that the child or adolescent you treat feels at ease when working with clinicians.
For this Discussion, select a current traumatic event in the news involving children and/or adolescents. Consider possible PTSD symptoms commonly seen with this type of trauma. Also, consider how you might be affected if you were to work with a child or adolescent who was traumatized by this event.
With these thoughts in mind:
Post a brief description of the traumatic event you selected. Then, describe two symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) commonly seen with this type of trauma and explain why. Be specific. Finally, explain one way you might be affected when working with children or adolescents who have experienced this traumatic event and why.

More than ever before, information is at our fingertips and coming at us with lightning speed. How do we sift and use this information (CO1)? Step 4 of the Big 6 model relates to our use of information and the process of engaging and extracting relevant information. Next, Step 5 of the Big 6 approach focuses on synthesis of information (CO8).Please choose one of the topics below to discuss which are of high interest to you.Health and WellnessBuying a CarHobbiesVacationsTo begin engaging in this forum, choose one of the conversation groups. Select a topic reference source from the web, which you deem credible and reliable. Read the source, extract the information and consider how you will engage your group members in the topic and information from the source. Be sure to include source attribution. As you are reading your source, consider the following: How will you synthesize and present the content of the source to share? What do you want your group members to know, and what do they need to know? How will you share the information so that the content is clear and concise? This is an opportunity for you to practice use of information and synthesis as you share with one another your own knowledge combined with a supporting source. At a minimum, participate in one group, although you are welcome to participate in all group threads.
