Regime change means the USA overthrew or helped to overthrow a sovereign country’s elected government.  In other words, the USA orchestrated violent overthrows/coups of Latin American governments, supported vicious dictators, armed and trained “death squads” that murdered hundreds of thousands and/or interfered in democratic elections. 
**Most of the flow of immigrants arriving at our southern border today are from Central American countries like Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador.  They are escaping poverty, corruption and indescribable violence produced by the United States involvement in regime change in their countries.  They are arriving at our border in an attempt to escape the terrible conditions the U.S. created in their home countries.

There are 20 countries and 13 “dependencies” south of our border in Latin America.  On the map, the countries we did NOT interfere with are colored gray.  Count the countries in GRAY to answer the following question.
How many countries did the United States NOT interfere in?  Just write the number.
b.  Choose 5 of the 15 countries listed in the article (Not Guatemala because it’s covered in the next question.) and write just 3 sentences in your own words about each those 5 countries explaining how the USA intervened and violated their sovereignty.
c.  Summarize the topic of 1.9 Guatemala in your own words. At least 3 sentences
