solved As the Grimm fairy tale collections were met with enthusiasm
As the Grimm fairy tale collections were met with enthusiasm there was soon the mass production of postcards, collectible tins, and later with Dinsey: toys, watches, bed sheets, shower curtains, and many other items. Total marketing of the fairy tale produced a bevy of products to infiltrate every aspect of our domestic lives. The fairy tale figures, themes, and elements were viable commodities that masses were eager to buy up as they symbolized connecting their own life with their fantasy. In this activity, you will put on your marketing cap – you work at a firm that has just received the rights to produce a fairy tale licensed product, but there is only one problem – you have been put in charge of promoting a very obscure Grimm tale. Without the typical name recognition of the popular tales and their figures, what product would best suit your tale? Â
Step 1: Choose a not so well-known fairy tale. This means none of the initial tales from the first weeks of the course are available. You can choose one of the tales from other weeks. The more obscure the better.Â
Step 2: Develop a product that fits the tale, either the protagonist, the theme, or another aspect of the tale. For example Sleeping Beauty Bed Sheets (Except Sleeping Beauty is not obscure enough of a tale to choose).Â
Step 3: Create an advertisement that uses the licensed tale property to sell the product (1 paragraph – can be visual), and then in a second paragraph, explain your thoughts on developing this marketing, and then in a third paragraph, describe how your product could fit into a global marketing campaign, would any changes need to be made to localize it?
What to do: Review the instructions for this week’s assignment.
