Design a Personalized Warehouse In this assignment, you will be designing a warehouse. Your assignment will include a 5-6-page essay (follow APA guidelines), a diagram of your warehouse, and Power Point presentation with 5-6 slides (your warehouse diagram/design should be one of your Power Point slides). Essay must contain a title page and also a reference page. Introduction – Describe your company’s mission, the type of products that are distributed, and how they are distributed (by rail, sea, truck, air, etc.). Your introduction should contain at least 3 or 4 paragraphs. You need to be as specific as possible. You can describe and discuss the rationale behind your choice and type of warehouse, location, number of employees, educational/experience required for employment, number of shifts in your warehouse. Walk us through a typical day in your warehouseDescribe how your inventory is warehoused and what strategies are used for managing inventory (cycle counts? Radio Frequency Tags? Etc.). Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of using the type of inventory system you decided to use. How does it impact the overall operation?There are at least 18 warehouse layout best practices that have a direct impact on inventory. One of the more popular best practices is Warehouse Automation. Research and discuss things that need to be considered before warehouse automation is decided (include at least 4-5 references).What are the advantages/disadvantages? How does automation impact warehouse efficiency? Warehouse automation can be very expensive, automated storage, conveyors, etc. Describe how would you conduct a cost-benefit analysis to ensure you are making a valid investment? What would be your determining factors? Describe the layout of you warehouse. Identify main areas such as, shelving/storage of Class A, B, C items. Identify dock staging areas, receiving areas, shipping areas, pallet storage, restrooms, warehouse offices, etc. Discuss why the flow pattern you have chosen will be the most effective.Suppliers play a major role in warehousing and having the right supplier(s) can make or break the organization, particularly in the COVID-19 environment we are currently operating in. Research (internet) and identify at least three different suppliers that you could use. How does each supplier’s company strategy align with yours? Also describe the type of supplier source you are going to use – Sole Source, Multiple Source or Single Source. Identify at least 8-10 criteria you will use to determine which supplier you are going to use and why the one’s chosen are the most important. These are suggested areas to focus on for your project. However, this is not an exhausted list. Your group has the freedom to include additional areas as you see fit.
