Digital forensics is an important aspect in risk management. Particularly, digital forensics is important with the growing need for data and increased operations in the digital space. Digital forensic includes the use of procedures and knowledge in the computer science field together with investigative policies in the inspection of digital evidence. It therefore is important in risk management since it assists to gain insights from data collected (Sunde & Dror, 2019). Through digital forensic a firm can uncover hidden trail of operations that could negatively influence a firm’s successful operations. Through forensic then the firm can predict whether a risk is likely to occur in the near future and therefore prepare for the same accordingly. Digital forensic can be applied to the database holding all the data related to risks for particular or wholesome operations in the firm. In practice it is important that there is an establishment of rights management systems for databases to ensure access to databases for forensic investigations. This is important because lack of rights management will render the database inaccessible. This will go against the principals of digital forensic since access to the data is important. Digital forensic allows for the risks into be classified and handled based on adequate and available data. In the current dispensation data is important towards decision making in risk handling.  Firm should therefore establish principles in the collection and storage of data. This is particularly in the effort to ensure there is access to databases in order to conduct audits on operational data.
