Students should review the Projects tab under modules and familiarize themselves with the project and requirements for each section. Â If students have not reviewed the tab or need additional information on the project, the Timeline Project Overview and Instructions have been provided as an attachment. Â
For this first milestone, students should write about their birth and infancy. Â The following are questions to keep in mind while writing this section. Â Â
Where were you born?
Who are your parents?
Discuss the culture you grew up in?
Do you have brothers and sisters?
How are the circumstances of your birth important to your development?
Others to consider:
Did your mother have prenatal care?Â
Did your mother have preeclampsia?
Were there conflicts with Rh factors?
Were you a premie? Â Did your mother have previous pre-term deliveries with older siblings?
If you were a premie, how long were you in the hospital before being released?
What if any defects or health issues were you born with?
Were you a breastfed or formula-fed baby?
Did you have a pacifier or blanket that you sucked on? Â Or were you a thumb or toe sucker? Â
Did you have a must-have toy or item?
Who did you cling to at this stage?
What were your first sounds or words?
When were you weaned from the bottle/breast?
When did you crawl?
When did you walk?
Were you sick often at this stage?
Did you sustain any serious accidents or potentially serious accidents at this stage?
Furthermore, when writing this section, think about what you have learned about human development through this course including the theories that pertain to this time of development. Â Below students will find a list of questions to consider while writing each developmental period and a chart showing some of the theorists and the area of development in which they focused. Â Keep in mind that more than one theorist or theory may be applicable to a particular time period and the instructor requires students to apply at least three theories to each stage of life. Â
Questions to Ponder:
How has heredity and genetics played a role in your life?
How have the decisions of your parents affected your life?
How have your experiences shaped your development/life?
How has your personality played a part in your life experiences?
How do you think it will play out in the future?
