I’m working on a health & medical discussion question and need a sample draft to help me learn.
This article is one of my favorites about change management. Â Her insight is very real and applicable to the workplace. Â It is considered a “seminal” article in the field of leadership.
The 3rd paragraph on the first page states, “….things that sustain change are not bold strokes but long marches–the independent, discretionary, and ongoing efforts of people throughout the organization.” Â The paragraph continues “…but you cannot order people to use their imaginations or work collaboratively.” Â What are your reactions to this paragraph?
The three bulleted points on the bottom of page 3 are so important to sustaining and leading change. Â We’ve touched on these in some of the earlier readings. Â Her summary of concepts, competence, and connections is succinct and precise.
The 7 classic skills for leaders are listed pages 3-5. Â What do you think is the most important skill for healthcare leaders? Â Which will be the hardest skill for you to develop?
Comment on what you think employees value most in their leaders and why.
Chapters 6, 7, and 8:
Respect, Integrity, and Connection…these three concepts are very powerful and determine one’s effectiveness as a leader.
In Chapter 6, the author lists several way to put the concept of respect in practice (beginning on page 95). Which will be easiest for you to do? Which will be hardest? Why?
Read Case 6.2 on page 102 and answer the two questions.
Read Case 7.2 on page 116 and answer the two questions.
Exhibit 8.3 on page 127 contains very wise and helpful advice! I find that these approaches are effective in personal as well as professional life. Â Being consistent and genuine in all of the “roles” we have in life will strengthen one’s leadership capabilities. Â On Page 131, the author lists 17 “lessons.” How can you use this list in your professional career?
