I’m working on a middle eastern studies project and need a sample draft to help me study.

It is a short research paper between 4-6 double spaced pages. This means that you need to go beyond my lectures and the readings of the course and study other sources for researching your topic. Using 4-5 good sources is usually fine.Topic should be chosen by you. It can be any of the topics we discuss in the class, or an issue that we do not address. In general analysis of the 20th century Iran, or the Baha’i Faith or the interaction of the two are relevant to this course. For example you can discuss aspects of the topics like the persecution of the Baha’is under the Islamic Republic, the ministry of Musaddiq, the question of oil in Iran, Constitutional or Islamic revolutions, intellectual developments in 1960s and 70s, Baha’i contributions to modernization of Iran, Abdu’l-Baha’s position concerning the reform of Iran, otherization of the Baha’is, and the like.You need adequate citing of the sources you use. Your paper should be coherent and the order of presentation of issues should be meaningful. Your paper should show that you are familiar with the basic debates or literature on the topic. If my lectures or the required readings are directly related to your topic you should make sure that you know about them and use them, without being content with them. You should try to write an objective paper. Your paper should be written in proper English. Grammatical errors or spelling mistakes should be corrected before submitting your paper.
