In a word processing program, provide your best answer to the following questions.
1. Â Â You are interested in how “gamers” or people who play video games professionally (i.e. for pay) see themselves and their social order. Which of the approaches discussed in Babbie/lesson would be best suited for the particular study? Â Why? Â What are the advantages and disadvantages of the approach?
2. Â Â Where would you study gamers? Â What kind of time commitment would you expect to make? Â Would there be any particular challenges with gaining access to gamers or the gamers’ community? Â How would you approach gaining the trust of the subjects?
3. Â Â What researcher role would best suit the study? Â How difficult do you expect it to be to maintain the role of the researcher, as opposed to just another member of the group?
4. Â Â Would you reveal your identity as a researcher? Â If so, when and how would you expect other members of the group to react? Â If not, why not?
