The guest Lacey Clarke speaks about the need for consultant’s to do their homework before approaching clients for projects and maintaining a steady balance during the approach. She also makes another important point in selecting consultants based on references and discusses the importance of analytical skills, availability and content knowledge about the project. There are all key factors that differentiate between good and average consultants and it is crucial that consultants work towards impressing the clients functionally, ensuring both a positive relationship and a successful project.The podcast also discusses repeat hires of specific consultants, and Lacey mentions she prefers consultants that look out for the client, both strategically and from a creative perspective. Understanding the needs of the client and addressing them in an optimal manner is crucial for consultants today. Basic aspects such as meeting deadlines, offering creative solutions, maintaining a transparent outlook and so forth are important given the dynamics of the role of a consultant.
