Please write a minimum of 800 words for the Journal 
This week you’ve been turning your outlines into rough drafts, and trying to figure out how to convince a focused audience (a single person, a group, or a government organization). While much of this work is similar to what you did for your research project, it’s more personal. You’re speaking as an individual with opinions based on what someone else said. You have to respond to their words, and give your position whether in agreement, disagreement, or both. While you may feel strongly about the thing you’re responding to, you can’t just rant at the other party you have to support your opinions with evidence and strategies.
For this journal I want you to talk about what it’s been like preparing and writing the first draft of this letter. Have you found it much different from writing a research paper? Are you trying out new rhetorical techniques? Is it harder to argue a point to a singular person or group as opposed to a broad audience? How has writing in a personal way differed from writing a research paper? Do you see a connection between writing this letter and writing the narrative essay?
