Within the Title VII guideline laws an establishment cannot require one gender to work different hours or job positions for reasons not related to their ability or availability for the job (Bennett-Alexander & Hartman, 2021, p. 420). Men working as kitchen help and women as servers is a clear indication of gender discrimination. Another problem to point out is that all the servers have blonde hair which is another added on problem for any woman who does not have blonde hair. This scenario also implies gender stereotyping which is based on the ideas of how a particular gender should act or dress or what roles they should perform or jobs they should hold (Bennett-Alexander & Hartman, 2021, p. 426). This scenario also reminds me of the restaurant named hooters where the women were servers and worn very short shorts, with the hooter’s shirt tied up to make their chests poke out more. This is exploitive and disrespectful and gives the impression that the women should dress provocatively to attract male customers. I have been to hooters one time and never went back again because of that layout of their employees. Another issue to point out is that many places discriminate without even realizing it but in this case, it is shown that the manager hired very attractive white women with blonde hair as servers. On exhibit 8.8, it states that very attractive men or women earn at least 5 percent more per hour than people with average looks (Bennett-Alexander & Hartman, 2021, p. 421)
