To accomplish this task, the student must: 1) do a little research into key thinkers from each period of philosophy we’ve addressed in class, 2) choose one thinker, 3) introduce that thinker to their reader situating the thinker within their appropriate philosophical period and culture, 4) introduce one or two of that thinkers key ideas in their own language, 5) demonstrate how those ideas are representative of the philosophical period in which the thinker was working, and finally 6) reflect on how that thinkers ideas might still be of value to people living today. This assignment should be between 1000-1500 words long and should conform to conventions regulating a traditional college essay (including having a clear introductory paragraph and thesis statement as well as documenting appropriately all referenced materials).
