The theme of being the “stranger in the village” appears in all sorts of texts: music and literature, film and TV, visual arts and photography. Examples of these images and narratives abound: an immigrant arrives in a foreign land, a cowboy rides into an unwelcoming town, an innocent person lands in a jail, an alien arrives on a new planet, an awkward kid starts a new school, and so on…
So if you wish to refer to various artists/works of art that you are familiar with, that’s FINE!
BUT>>You MUST refer in detail to specific parts of the readings that are ASSIGNED for this sequence. So please don’t skip that requirement.
OPTION A: BEING “PROVOCATIVE” OR “CONFRONTATIONAL”: Sometimes a stranger comes into a village and just tries to get along. In other situations, a stranger arrives and has a strong and often accusatory message to deliver to the village. And at times the “stranger” and the “villagers” remain in a state of confusion and hesitation. Please refer to TWO of our recent texts and explain how authors describe their own choices about getting along and/or about being “confrontational.”
