***Make a comment ***There are many issues within the healthcare delivery system. Such as confidentiality, shortage of primary care providers, and healthcare cost. Many people fear that health information will be breached. Each healthcare worker is entitled to keep healthcare information confidential. Only information can be shared with staff or providers that are involved in the patient’s care. In addition, if the patient gives consent to share information with family or friends. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) protects the healthcare information of the patients. If this act is broken many consequences can be faced. There is a major shortage of primary providers. There is an increase in NPs graduating. It is shown that this growth will double by the year 2025. For NPs to provide proper care will vary amongst states. Only 29 states allow NPs to work in full extent. With a decrease of providers currently, this can increase wait time to receive an appointment. In addition, burnout for providers will occur for taking care on increase number of patients (Xue & Intrator, 2016). Lastly, healthcare cost can be very expensive. Many individuals cannot afford insurance and the services that the government provides will lead to individuals to pay additional fees. Medicaid coverage will not cover the care of the patient fully. Certain individuals will not be able to afford a secondary insurance to help pay the out-of-pocket fees from the Medicaid services. It is important to figure out a cost-effective healthcare plan for everyone. This will allow individuals to increase in taking a health insurance (Erickson et al., 2017). As Nurses it is important that we educate the community the importance of these issues. This will allow more interventions to be made in place to benefit and create a safe environment for the community. This will lead to optimal health.
