Last week, you described society’s perceptions, common assumptions, and policies in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s/1990s. 
For this week, choose one of those three time periods and the perceptions, assumptions, and policies present during that time period. The policies enacted during each time period may have helped and/or may have hurt Anita and her family in different ways. For your initial post, imagine that you have a magic policy wand that enables you to “fix” anything in a policy. Come up with and describe two or three major policy changes that might help Anita and her family. How would the changes help them? Feel free to be creative!

Anita and her family’s case highlights the development of social work and counseling psychology needed to help improve their emotional, social, economic, and mental difficulties. In the 1960s, these fields had not fully evolved, and the larger world would perceive Anita as one who went against social norms, like marriage. Thus, forms of inequalities women went through socially, economically, emotionally, and mentally would be assumed normal, because of deviating from societal, cultural values. Policies that failed to address issues of social inequalities could have contributed to the same.
In the 1970s, these fields had started gaining momentum. Nonetheless, people still considered women as lesser beings in terms of economic opportunities and other social biases. Thus, the larger world would perceive her as one who is trying to involve in male responsibilities. The assumption was that they are not supposed to undertake jobs and would most likely view her as rebellious. This could be tied to policies aligned to equal economic opportunitiSeveral things changed in the 1980s/1990s as women advocated for more political space and policy formulation. Nonetheless, she would still be perceived as an advocate of social, political, and economic justice. The assumption was that women were not supposed to have equal political space as men. This could have been aligned to policies that treated women as lesser beings politically.
