WRITING ASSIGNMENT – POSITION PAPER
1. Discuss the guiding principles of community justice as outlined in Community Justice: Concepts and Strategies. (20 points)
2. Discuss racial disparities in the criminal justice system at each decision point: 1) Arraignment and pre-Adjudication; 2) Adjudicatory; and 3) Jail and Custody (30 points)
3. Identify and describe at least two (2) restorative justice strategies at either: 1) the Arraignment/Pre-Adjudication; 2) Adjudicatory; or 3) Jail/Custody decision point. Please explain how the strategy will impact the criminal justice system and reduce the racial disparity at the decision point. (50 points)
