solved Artists have for centuries relied on the principles of scale
Artists have for centuries relied on the principles of scale and proportion to reflect and communicate ideas. From monumental sculpture to microscopic, and from the ancient Greeks, with their concepts of perfect, ideal proportion, to the Surrealists, who bend and distort proportion to enhance dream-like associations, these principles can affect meaning and influence viewer perceptions. For this week’s discussion, select a work of art that uses scale and proportion in a distinct or pronounced way. Some questions to consider when writing your post: How does the use of scale and/or proportion relate to the context and meaning of the work of art? Are these principles used naturalistically or are they distorted in such a way as to subvert traditional associations? How does the use of scale/proportion affect viewer perceptions? What other elements or principles enhance the work’s appearance? Include an image (EMBED the image in your post). Please give the artist’s name, title of the work, date, and where you accessed it (Museum website). You can search for an image through Google’s Arts and Culture Collections website, which offers links to Museum collections around the world. From here, you can explore a variety of collections, find a work of art that speaks to you, download it to your computer, and upload it to embed the image into this discussion post. You may NOT use an image from the textbook or one that is already covered in the online lecture this week.As an alternative, if you are an artist, you may instead upload an image of your own work, and then write a statement as far as how you have used scale/proportion in your work.Don’t forget you must reply to at least TWO other students’ posts thoughtfully, in multiple sentences, in order to receive full credit. The discussion must be written entirely in your own words, so if you use an outside source for information, you must cite your source.
