For this discussion, students will be answering questions from the primary sources (Part A) and three additional questions (Part B).  The questions for Part A are located within the introduction before each source and all the sources are in the Women and the National Experience book.Be sure you answer every question.  Generally, there are two questions in the introduction.  Sometimes there is only one and with some sources, there are as many as four questions.  Be sure to read through the entire introduction to find and answer every question.

Part B:  Please also answer the following questions:
1. In chapter 16, several of the sources dealt with the “proper” place for a woman in American society.  Farnham and Lundberg suggest that women who seek work outside of the home are “lost” and doing great harm to their families.  Eleanor Roosevelt was so moved by this question of woman’s place that she wrote an article on the topic, urging women to remain in the domestic sphere.  Why were so many Americans, especially men in power, so concerned about whether women earned their own income?  Why was this such a threat?  
2. In chapter 18 Gloria Steinem speaks to congress and debunks several long-held myths about women.  What myths regarding women are still perpetuated today, now, in 2021?  How do these myths complicate women’s advancement?  Be specific and use examples. 
3. In chapter 18 the issue of male aggression and violence is discussed in a few sources.  How does the source Rape, An Act of Terror (1971), relate to the Me Too Movement?  What are the similarities?  What are the differences?
