Read the press release below on frequency of consumption of spicy food and longevity. How convinced are you that spicy food causes longevity increases? How could the study be changed to provide more evidence of causation?https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/news/features/frequent-spicy-food-consumption-linked-with-lower-death-risk/And wite comment for this person’s view (For the comment just write a few sentence),” From my perspective, the research cannot convince me that spicy food causes longevity increases. There are two reasons. First, although there is research that has been found that the chili peppers have the anti-obesity, antioxidant, anti-inflammation, even the anticancer properties, how much people should eat can satisfy the body requirement to reach the antioxidant and so on. For example, the red wine producers always advertise that red wine can prevent the ageing because there is an ingredient named resveratrol; however, the ingredient only exists in the surface of grape with a small dose. If people drink several bottles of wine per day, they do have the effect of antioxidants. Most of the time, people cannot drink that much. On the other hand, if you drink a lot, it will damage other parts of the body, liver and mental condition. Similarly, if the serving size of spicy is more than we thought and will have damage to our body, then we will consider whether it is worth it to eat them a lot. Second, when we consider the consumption of spicy food, we should take the local culture and habits into consideration. What if most of the 487,375 participants came from south of China, for example, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, and Hunan provinces which are the heavily spicy consuming provinces. Because of their special geological and climate that is heavy, moist, sultry, muggy and overcast, thus they have to eat lots of pepper in order to expel the cold and dampness. But, their lifespan is not necessarily longer than others. Thus I think the research should consider more factors, for example, the local habit. ”
