Godey’s Lady’s Book
Examine the expressions, demeanor, and dress of the women from the Godey’s illustrations shown here.Â
What do they have in common?Â
Why do they show so little variety?Â
How might women readers have regarded these images and tried to imitate them?
Look at the profiles of the true women from Godey’s. Â Notice their tiny waists, the composure of their hands, the elegance of their bearing. How do these and other details reinforce the message that women are unfit for the public sphere?
Consider Godey’s in light of fashion magazines you are familiar with today.Â
What is the appeal of fashion magazines for women?Â
How seriously do you take the lifestyle and the profiles modeled in the magazines you read?Â
How can such sources be read critically to reveal something about contemporary times?
Photographs
Compare the attitudes and expressions of the factory operatives and the slave women, especially the slave “mammies.” Â How does the fact that one group chose to photograph themselves while the others were photographed by their masters change the meaning of the photographs?
All of these early photographs show women defined by their labor.Â
Does work, in any way, offer common ground between factory operatives and slaves? Â How are the women in these photographs different from the images in Godey’s Lady’s Book (Visual Sources, pp. 233-39) of middle-class “true women”?Â
What do you think of the fact that the former were more likely to come down to us in photographs, while the images of the latter were preserved in illustrations and paintings?
Consider what photographs add to historical documentation.Â
What can photographs, even at this early stage, tell us about women’s history that other sorts of images cannot?Â
Conversely, how should we analyze photographs to avoid the temptation of regarding them as transparent mirrors of a lost historical reality?
solved Public speaking is the process of designing and delivering a
/in /by adminPublic speaking is the process of designing and delivering a speech before a live audience, in a structured and deliberated manner, to cover a wide variety of different topics, whit the intent to inform or influence the listeners (Spencer, 2018). There are different types of public speaking, including informative speaking, and persuasive speaking.
Informative speaking entails the delivery of a speech to inform or explain a concept to the audience members (Brown, 2017). In the public health practice, this type of speaking facilitates the dissemination of relevant health information to the public, to create awareness about important health topics, and decrease misinformation that could prevent people from engaging in health behavior change, or from accepting medical advice and recommendations important to improve their health outcomes and prevent diseases.
Persuasive speaking goes beyond informing the public and attempts to persuade or convince the audience about a certain viewpoint (Brown, 2017). In the delivery of health communication messages, persuasive speaking is a useful tool to disseminate information, as the intended outcome of the message is to engage the audience, either in behavior change, community engagement, or other activities. Amidst the pandemic, for example, the combination of informative and persuasive speaking has been effective to create awareness about the protective measures to stop the spreading of the virus, and at the same time, persuade individuals to receive the vaccine.

The Atlantic: The Science of Cohabitation: A Step Toward Marriage, Not a RebellionInstitute for Family Studies: Cohabitation is PervasiveBased on your review of chapter 6 (and even other chapters of our text that include cohabitation), the articles you chose and thinking over your observations and maybe experience…Part A:What are your views and perspective concerning cohabitation, and why it has become so normative (what has changed?) from your perspective based on the chapter readings and chosen articles?Discuss what you learned and what stood out to you from the two resources you chose and the chapter (please remember to provide multiple points from each article).Based on your resources and the chapter, in what ways can cohabitation be helpful or harmful, or both? Be sure to discuss/apply the articles you chose and the chapter to support and explain your conclusions–this is critical to ALL course work.Part B:Based on what you have learned from the research, any personal experience/observations, beliefs/values, and the resources you chose about cohabitation, what would you share and advise a friend who is considering cohabiting with their partner and comes to you for your thoughts as they contemplate this very important decision? This is a very important decision and should be made with understanding and wisdom. Course Application is expected in your response. As indicated in the articles and chapter, consider the following areas to bring up and share with a friend as your feelings and beliefs about cohabitation, finances, the future of the relationship, motivation and reason to move in together, family and friends’ views, religious beliefs, social time and leisure activities, what are the non-negotiables, chores, hobbies, pet peeves, pets, what happens if someone wants out, renting versus buying, purchases (shared or buy things separately), should they create a cohabitation contract, potential pregnancy, etc.In your replies, feel free to include your personal beliefs and experiences related to cohabiting in addition to also using the resources and chapter to assert your views and conclusions.

solved Part 1: Description of AssignmentThis exercise develops a multi-variable equation
/in /by adminPart 1: Description of AssignmentThis exercise develops a multi-variable equation that estimates the market price of diamonds based on the “4Cs” of diamond valuation: Carat, Color, Clarity, Cut.Use the attached data file. The data is from a very old edition of the Diamond Buyer’s Guide. [Don’t do it for this exercise, but one can adjust for inflation by (1+average inflation rate)^(number of compounding years) ]Discussion and Suggested ApproachWe have numeric (ratio) and non-numeric (categorical) data appearing in the first worksheet of the attached workbook. Tables are provided to code the non-numeric data (substitute a number for a categorical variable) on the second worksheet. On the third worksheet, a blank coding table is provided with the first row already coded properly using the “vlookup” function. You may code this worksheet manually OR let Excel perform the “heavy lifting” by using the “vlookup” function*. Toggle it into formula view to function and its syntax. Note that the numeric data is referenced directly. *CAUTION: Understand this function! It is introduced again in Chapter 10.Development and InterpretationConfigure the regression tool to include the “4C’s.INPUT Options: Perform a regression and inculde the column labels from the data table. OUPUT Options: Set the ouput on a New Worksheet Ply named Regression + Specify all residual options and the normal probability plot. Using Yellow highlight, highlight the cells that you referenced in your regression report to answer the questions below.[A] Linear Equation — Develop a regression equation using the data provided based on the “4Cs” and estimate the market price of a diamond based on the parameters below (1 points + 2 for follow-on Q):Weight = 1.5 CaratsColor Grade: EClarity Grade: VS1Cut Category: Good Use Excel to perform the above sumproduct computation. [B] Fit — Determine the error and what proportion of the total variation in the market price of diamonds that the model’s selected regression variables explain. [C] Statistical Significance — Determine which regression variables are statistically significant and determine which one (parameter) you would eliminate, if any, if it was necessary to further refine the model. [D] Residual Analysis — Determine which sample observation represents the best value from the buyer’s perspective and the largest windfall from the seller’s perspective (when sold). [E] Statistical Inference –Detemine if the model developed from this set of sample data could be applied to the general population.Part 2:Once you’ve developed your model based on the instructions in Step 1 (Excel file), validate your results and your interpretations by answering the questions.

At the social change website, you will find videos, annual reports, text, and images. As you explore this data source, consider what text, images, and reports you would like to include as part of your data analysis exercise. To prepare for this Discussion: Choose one of the three social change literature review articles found in this week’s Learning Resources and review the article in detail. Explore the Walden Social Change website and locate an additional document, video, or webpage that will inform your understanding of the meaning of positive social change. Reflect on any additional sources you find. Next, write field notes based on the information you gathered from the Walden social change website and any other documents or websites that might inform your changing impressions about the meaning of positive social change. Finally, review the media programs related to coding and consider how you will use this information to support this Discussion. Note: In your Excel Video Coding template there is a tab for your website data. Use this tab to place your content and codes for the website. Discussion PostPrepare a brief explanation of your understanding of the meaning of positive social change thus far. Refer to the additional sources you have reviewed this week, and comment on how they are shaping your experience. They are often informal in tone and are designed to let all the internal and external stakeholders what has happened, and will happen, on the project. These are often regularly scheduled (weekly/monthly/quarterly), but can be spontaneous too, especially if something important has happened or may impact the project. In general terms, progress reports will have these 5 sections.Introductory section. Briefly review the project. Provide readers with information about the project’s purpose, clarify its timescale, and remind about other important details. [The length and detail depend on the audiences’ familiarity with the project. If it is a broad audience then it needs more background. Since I know about this assignment and there is no secondary audience, keep it short]Write the “work completed†section. Describe what work has already been done, especially since the last update. Specify the problems you encountered or see as likely in the next stages. Explanation of how you solved them or how you are planning to do it.Write about the next stages. Provide stakeholders with information about how you are planning to move ahead.Closing section. If it is a longer report, then summarize your progress report.
