Negotiating Cultural Conflicts Taken from:”Negotiating Cultural Conflicts: Building a Culturally Relevant, Anti-Bias Approach in Early Childhood Programs By Ellen Wolpert NAEYC Annual Conference 2000″Working with children of color – choose one to address. Then read others in your group and respond to at least 1. Story #1. Tian:Tian is three and a half. She is about to enter your preschool program. Tian’s Parents feed her. They intend to continue feeding her until she is five. It is their feeling that children are too independent. They place a high value on interdependence and relationships in which people help each other. They believe that feeding children, because of the great importance food has in their lives, is an important way to teach these values of interdependence and caring for one another…In your preschool program individualism and doing things for oneself is of primary importance. Children are encouraged to feed themselves. Recognizing the difference in cultural values between your program and Tian’s family, how will you integrate Tian into the program? Story #2. Tian Part II: Just today Tian finally fed herself during lunch. Your co-teacher, sitting at the lunch table with all the children, really pleased said, “Tian you fed yourself…that’s terrific!!! Let’s all clap hands for Tian!!! And they applauded…What is the cultural conflict in this situation? What are your feelings and thoughts about this situation? You are the co-teacher in this classroom…what might you do inthis situation? Story: #3. Returning to country of origin: Parents planning on returning to their country of origin are concerned that their daughter is learning values that will make it very difficult for her to adjust to the change. They as her teachers to help prepare her. They (the parents) would like her not to participate in playground games where there is close contact with the boys. She is a very athletic child and loves active games that involve physical contact. What is the cultural conflict in this situation? What are your thoughts and feelings about this request? How might you respond to these concerns? Story #4. Too old for a pacifier: Raquel is four and new to your preschool. Her mother sends her with a pacifier each day. Your co-teacher tells Raquel’s mother that she should keep the pacifier at home… Raquel is really too old to have one… and if the other children see her with one, they’ll want one too, or it might get in the way of her socialization. What is the cultural conflict in this situation? What are your feelings and thoughts about this situation? What might you do in this situation?

solved Discuss the relationship between organizational change and the organization’s need

Discuss the relationship between organizational change and the organization’s need to stay competitive in a global market.
How much does this relationship drive change?
What other factors drive organizational change?

Due Monday
Reply to at least 2 of your classmates or your faculty member. Be constructive and professional.
responses:
1. n my current workplace there was a recent acquisition of another company. This is a major change that the organization has recently undergone. This organizational change is huge and can make or break the direction that the company is moving. Staying competitive in the global market is so important along with keeping up to date with remaining relevant. These things have to be considered when change is happening. Lack of consideration can’t be detrimental to the company as a whole.
Organizational change is driven by many factors. one of the main ones that come to mind is profit. If the company is losing money or not meeting goals, then change is needed. Another factor for organizational change is the work environment. Many organizations (large organizations) contract with survey companies to so employee engagement surveys to see how the employee views their work climate and get suggestions on how to improve the work environment if needed. I personally like it when the company takes their time to do surveys and get opinions of the employees. It shows they care about the employees and want them to have a good work environment.
2. The relationship with organizational change is how the daily operations keep the business going especially with technology that changes often. The organizational change is the business does personal change, unplanned change if something occurs. The importance of this relationship with any business is to set and maintain goals and develop a strategy. For an example Amazon use to be just an online book app. However, amazon did a different approach and now well known for their services and their different offers to their customers and vendors
How much does this relationship drive change? This relationship drive change because of the different benefits that are offered to staff, customers, third parties everyone wants in with amazon because of their well-known services.
What other factors drive organizational change? When an owner of his business not only care about himself and his business but his staff and customers is his top priority. This positive factor matches the needs, wants, and the feedback to drive this organizational change. People really want to work for a business that they can depend on and feel good with working with.

Using the content of the reading assignments, select one of the two topics listed below and write a short essay of minimum 300 words and submit it online using “instructions for submitting an online Assignment” available by clicking the link below. Be sure you use complete sentences with good grammar (a points penalty will apply for grammar mistakes). Remember you must use specific ideas from the reading to get full credit for your short essay.Your essay is due by March 17; however, you can submit it as early as you like. Each essay topic relates to a specific module so you may want to wait until that module opens to fully review the content of the module before writing your essay or just get started using the reading from the text and online sources. That said, the topics relate to a section of the textbook “Queer Economics” and sources outside the confines of the course material can also be used provided its source is cited. Please be sure to cite the locations where the information you are discussing can be located wherever appropriate. Appropriate citations or attribution can be very simple in format. To cite sources, place the name of the source (article, textbook, video) and the location in that source in parenthesis after the pertinent sentence in parentheses e.g.(Cornwall, p.146) or (https://williamsinstitute.law.ucla.edu/publications/lgbt-nondiscrimination-statutes/ (Links to an external site.)).By consistently referring back to course readings, online sites, and videos in your written assignments/discussions you can optimize your grade points. Opinion-based writing (unless specifically requested in the prompt) without sources and references to course material or course-related material may be rejected or receive substantial loss of grade points. So, please heavily rely on knowledge, facts, and data rather than perspective to inform your written answers. When in doubt, cite.Pick only one of these following module topics to complete your short written assignment:Short answer questions:Module 3: Identify two specific problems concerning information and data collection (from the assigned readings or online sources) regarding LGBT people that you feel are most important and how do you think the problems could be minimized? Address all parts for full credit.Module 4: Using the sections of the reading on domination and exclusion found in the reading, “The Basics of Political Economy”, answer this question: Could one person both dominate and exclude another at the same time? Also, describe an example where this would be true with regard to LGBT people. Address both parts for full credit.

Instructions
If you enjoy watching movies, more than likely you already analyze scenes, narrative, and plot, without even noticing it. The objective of this assignment is to engage you to think about your thinking – this is called ‘critical thinking’ – in context of what you have learned throughout the course. At a time of your choosing, you will watch a documentary titled Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room.

The documentary has received critical reviews for its expose on one of the largest business scandals in North American history. Your job will be to provide a critical film analysis – this refers to a reflective form of writing in which the author (you) evaluates or critiques the work of another person. In this assignment you are conducting a critique of the Enron Corporation. The aim of writing a critical analysis is to enhance your understanding of the film and make connection(s) to theory and practice. It is important to note that critical analysis of a film is different from a movie review. A movie review is just about watching a film passively while a critical analysis entails engaging on a level that surpasses mere storytelling.
After you introduce the topic of your critique and outline your essay (150 words), you will provide an overview of the Enron scandal that eventually led to the bankruptcy of the organization (250 words). Then, you will reflect on your reaction(s) to the events that took place within the company as depicted in the documentary (350 words). Share your opinion. What surprised you? How do you feel about what took place in Enron? Were there any scenes or case facts that stood out as being critical? Do you agree/disagree with a decision (or decisions) that Kenneth Lay, Jeffrey Skilling, Andrew Fastow, and/or Rebecca Mark-Jusbasche made? Why or why not? Do not be afraid to reflect in first-person writing style.
Be prepared to clearly pair your analysis with at least two supporting concepts, theories, or principles that we have discussed or are featured in the textbook (350 words). For example, Enron used deceptive accounting practices such as the mark-to-market (MTM) method to hide the fact they were near financial collapse. This predated International Financial Reporting Standards but underscored their value in standardizing an organization’s financial position. To further lend support to your arguments, it is expected that you use at least five sources of scholarly research. Finally, write a conclusion that summarizes your arguments and leave a lasting impression (150 words).

solved TASK: In this paper, you must analyze a controversy using

TASK: In this paper, you must analyze a controversy using two course texts. Choose two texts

from our second unit that are not making the same argument about the controversy and write
a paper to explain and analyze how these texts each contribute to the discussion about the
controversy. Here are some questions you should consider, both as you read the essays and as
you write about them. What do they contribute?  How are these two authors talking to each
other? What makes it useful to read these two very different perspectives on this controversy?
Toward the conclusion of your essay, you may indicate whether or not you find one of these
texts more persuasive or effective than the other, but the goal of the paper should always be to
balance your analysis of the two texts, not to prefer one over the other. In other words, your
goal should be to summarize both essays and show how, from their different vantages, they are
contributing to the debate.  Consider an example from the first section of the course. We talked
a great deal about the American food system. If you were to pair Pollan and Freedman, you
could develop a paper the shows the two sides of the debate about food. Pollan allows us to
see the dangers of industrial food production, while Freedman reveals a potentially valuable
aspect of it. Together, these essays (one directly confronting the other) paint a better picture of
the debate than either one of them can on their own. You should aim to do something similar
in your paper: provide a full picture of what people are debating.
METHOD: Consider each author’s conveyed purpose, tone, evidence, language, and/or
intended audience, as these are tools for developing your overall stance about the relationship
of these texts. Also consider how these two texts exist in context: what do these authors add to
the discourse around the controversy?
RATIONALE: This essay extends your use of summary and analysis from Essay #1, and it requires
you to think and write more broadly about a topic and its context. Use TSIS Chapters 5, 6, and 7
to ensure that you are always distinguishing what you say from what they say. The following
SKILLS should be demonstrated in your work: direct reference to the sources, summary of their
arguments, and clear presentation of how these writers approach a single topic in very different
ways.
TEXT OPTIONS: You may choose any two of our course texts from unit 2, though be sure to
choose two that are NOT in agreement on the issue of the economy.  If you choose two texts
that agree, you will not be able to write an effective essay.
