This paper should cover the book by Mazzucato. As you read, think about the way Mazzucato’s proposals relate to the other books we’ve read. Do her proposed changes go far enough to fix whatever you think maybe “broken” in our current system?  What are her assumptions?  Is there anything she’s leaving out?
1. What is the main argument or argument the author is making? Do you agree? Disagree? Why?
2. Are there any important points about the subject area that you think the author has omitted or under-emphasized? Over-emphasized? Why?
3. What are the key assumptions the author had to make in order to make the arguments in this book? If those assumptions were different, how would the author’s argument have to be different?
4. How do the arguments in the book you’re reading compare and contrast with the other readings we’ve done so far?
5. How does the information presented by the author relate to recent important world events? Does the author’s work seem still to be relevant today? Or is the world changing so quickly that even recently-published books on international issues soon grow out of date?
6. What recommendations might you have for United States policy makers — the President, the Departments of Defense, State, Commerce, etc., the Congress, or others — to cope with the issues presented in the author’s work?
7. How might you, as a concerned and informed citizen, take steps to cope with the issues presented in the author’s work? You may answer any or all of these questions in your paper, or you may write a paper that deals with the assigned book from a completely different perspective. I am quite flexible in that there is no standard format for these papers. I simply want your thoughtful, reasoned, analytic reaction to the ideas presented in each assigned reading.

“You are the editor of a local newspaper that serves a large city with many colleges, including prestigious Southland University, a private university known for its academic research, athletics success and selective 12% admission rate. You are evaluating placement of the following news article based on the seven news values described by Craft & Davis.A reporter covered a press conference today at SU, where the university’s chancellor announced she had fired the athletics director, saying he was negligent for allowing coaches to secure SU admission for students whose parents donated money to the programs. The students ultimately did not participate in intercollegiate athletics at SU.Among the students was the daughter of a popular Hollywood actor who starred in a comedy that was the No. 1-rated network prime time show for five years. The daughter, a popular social media influencer, graduated with a 2.5 GPA from her private high school. Her parents donated $100,000 to the university’s gymnastics program, but the student never participated in the sport. Her admission was part of a larger scandal involving athletics programs at several prestigious universities — a story that attracted public and news media attention for several months. The athletics director followed up with his own press conference saying he planned to sue SU for breach of contract. An alumni group expressed support for the athletics director, saying he did not have direct knowledge of the donations.A student group said the chancellor did not go far enough. Members said SU should increase scholarships for and admit more students from disadvantaged communities. Students in the group said they felt fortunate to be admitted to SU, but were stressed by the loans they needed to take to pay tuition.” Name each of the seven news valuesBriefly describe each of the seven news values Briefly describe how each news value is relevant to the news article

This week we are analyzing how a writer composes a semiotic analysis. Our first step is to understand the ideas contained within the text itself by annotating in Perusall. In Abraham Riesman’s, “What We Talk about When We Talk About Batman and Superman,” he explores how the conflictual relationship between Superman and Batman means something about changing American attitudes and values. In his analysis, the author creates a clear and engaging timeline of the changing dynamics between the duo and how that relates to historical and cultural shifts in America.
Once we have read and annotated the text, our task for this week as critical thinkers and semioticians is to document and evaluate how the author is using the semiotic method to make their point: using examples that compare and contrast, bringing in historical context, using abduction, etc.
In order to do this, I have included a diagram of some of the key thinking skills  Download I have included a diagram of some of the key thinking skillsthat will be required of you when you get to larger writing projects. Our goal this week is to become familiar with the concepts and vocabulary of semiotics and how they are developed by skilled semioticians.
Directions: Please reply to this discussion thread and fill in the diagram the best that you can for the Superman and Batman article. You can either create a diagram so that it’s visual or simply list the categories and analyze them. For example, how does Riesman historicize or contextualize his examples of the changing attitudes towards Superman and Batman? Or, how does Riesman associate similar or different signs in the system? How does he make conclusions about what these signs mean? For each circle, you might list one or two items. Try and fill out as many as you can because this will prepare you for brainstorming your own semiotic analysis. I’ve attached graphic organiser doc needed for the firstfirst assignment.

SWOT and Sustainable Competitive Advantage

Building on the analysis and findings from the External and Internal application research reports, in this module you will integrate the findings in a SWOT and sustainable competitive advantage analysis (i.e., pull what you have written from the first two assignments on strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, and rewrite them to develop a full SWOT analysis with additional insights gleaned from your continued research). Be sure to include a SWOT table.
The concurrent module readings are innovation-centric. Although not directly related to the application research report activity, this is an opportunity to introduce innovation/disruption strategies into the SWOT that might not have been apparent in prior analysis.
Research – this is the opportunity to revisit both the internal and external analyses, to further research based on gaps and feedback from your instructor, and to seek alignment of information and findings.
Analyze the external and internal findings from the past two modules to develop a refined understanding of SWOT, and the ability of the firm to sustain competitive advantage in the next 3-5 years.  What does the firm have to do to establish or maintain a competitive advantage – how do strengths and weaknesses align with the opportunities and threats?
Report the newly developed SWOT and Sustainable Competitive Advantage
Note: student examples are simply examples and may include errors, use these examples with your best judgement. AVOID using these as templates as they might not work for your selected company. For example, students in past classes have used the exact same headings as those provided in the examples, but the headings did not work for their company and caused them to fail an assignment. Remember to use critical thinking and report in a manner that best suits your company.

Suppose you are the manager of a small custom producer of equipment used in various process industries such as chemicals and beverages. Each piece of equipment is custom designed from customer specifications. The process generally consists of five steps:Customer quote creationPreproduction planning (if awarded the contract)Quality assurance planManufacturingInspection and DeliveryDevelop a process manual for this company that outlines specific activities that should be performed within each of these process steps. Be sure to clearly describe how design control and improvement are integrated into this process, and also consider the project nature of this process. Include charts such as a process map and specific key terms .SubmissionThis project should be submitted in essay format and should be 4-5 paragraphs in length, not including the title or reference pages, and should include an introduction with a thesis statement and a conclusion that summarizes the main ideas. Each paragraph should have a topic sentence supported by 3-5 sentences that offer additional details, explanation, and examples. The essay should be free of errors in grammar, sentence structure, and other mechanics.Nearly every major activity within an organization involves a process that crosses traditional organizational boundaries. These processes involve combinations of people, machine, tools, techniques, materials, and improvements in a defined series of steps or actions. One important concept about process focus is management’s understanding regarding how to design, manage, and improve processes. This module focuses on process-focused practices for quality management.Make sure to add your own created logo, and to follow the format the best you can (I will award 10 pts extra credit if you do). Include the minimum sections required and make sure that you truly think the project through, as real as possible. Charts and key terms are expected.

solved Write a few sentences (about 100 words) integrating a quote

Write a few sentences (about 100 words) integrating a quote from any of the articles that you will be using in your paper. Be sure to connect your quote to the rest of your sentences. You can do this via signal phrases (“Smith argues” OR “According to Smith,” etc) or by integrating your quote as it grammatically fits into your sentence. Document your quote by using the APA in-text citation guidelines you have studied in this lesson.
When you are done posting your response, reply to at least one classmate in no fewer than 75 words. Comment on how effectively they have integrated a quote.
Your discussion post will be graded according to the following criteria:

80% – Thoughtful original post that properly integrates a quote from one of your sources in at least 100 words
20% – Thoughtful response to a classmate’s post that comments on how well they have integrated their quote with the rest of their sentences (at least 75 words)

COLLAPSE

R1: With the average human consuming “an estimated 39,000 to 52,000 microplastic particles per year from food and beverages alone” (“Plastic pollution solutions, 2020, Par 3), the health risk is growing in a number of concerns. Microplastic alone carries toxins, mutagens, and carcinogens. With that said, once the plasters enter the human body, it will “carry additives from the manufacturing process, chemicals absorbed to the plastics, and pathogens or parasites that may be on the plastic” (Plastic pollution solutions, 2020, Par 3). As easy as it is for us humans to consume without knowledge, it has gotten much worse for animals; especially those in the aquatic life.

Chapter 9 My Movie Log #1 “Functions of Sound in Mad Max: Fury Road”
My Movie Log #1 Prompt
Consider the seven (7) functions of sound explored in your reading and in this unit’s lectures.
As you watch Mad Max: Fury Road, be observant of how sound is used.  For this journal, choose two (2) functions of sound (your choice) and write a mini-sound analysis of Mad Max: Fury Road, using clear examples from the feature film.
The format for this journal entry will be in two (2) paragraphs (target 150 words each).  One paragraph for each of the two functions of sound you selected. For each paragraph:

Briefly describe the function, using your own words.
Explain how sound in Mad Max: Fury Road serves this function; and, use at least two (2) specific examples of sound from the movie to support your analysis.

My Movie Log #2 Prompt
In this unit on sound, we are learning about the sources of sound (i.e. where the sound is coming from) in the shot/sequence of analysis.  The three pairings we are using:

Diegetic/nondiegetic sounds
On-screen/offscreen sounds
Internal/external sounds

Explore each of these pairings in a mini-analysis using Mad Max: Fury Road.
Your journal entry should be formatted in three paragraphs (150 words each). For each paragraph:

Briefly describe the specific pairing (in your own words). For example, describe diegetic sound and non-diegetic sound in your own words.
Give one specific example of a sound/sound effect in Mad Max: Fury Road that illustrates each of the terms.  For example, specify a sound/sound effect in your selected feature film that you believe is a diegetic sound. And another sound/sound effect you believe is a nondiegetic sound.  Be sure to “set the scene/moment” in the movie so that the reader understands the moment you are referencing in the movie.  The two examples do not need to be within the same shot/sequence.
