Health systems work to hire physicians, nurses, and other staff with highly technical skills and professional reputations. Hospitals compete for market share because empty beds and vacant clinics do not pay the bills. Even the ability to build or renovate a facility can depend on a compelling justification submitted to regulatory authorities and funding sources.A broad understanding of marketing, often more associated with commerce than healthcare, forms the foundation for navigating the diverse demands of designing and advancing a product, service, or brand. This assignment requires that you summarize how you will collect the data you will use for your research project. There are several types of data available. Data CollectionScience is an empirical enterprise. That means that it is data based. There are two ways that we collect data:we observe people and use our observations as data, andwe ask people questions and use what they tell us as data.Sometimes surveys are referred to as sample surveys because we select a sample of individuals from the population and ask them questions. Then we use their answers to these questions as our data. Surveys can take various forms:in-person interviews,mailed questionnaires,telephone surveys, andweb-based surveys.Error is inevitable whenever we study something. Since we can’t eliminate all error our goal is to minimize error. Error can enter into a survey in various ways.Sampling error occurs when we select a sample from a population. No sample is a perfect representation of a population.Coverage error occurs when the list of the population from which we select our sample does not perfectly match the population. For example, about 98% of all households in the United States have a telephone (either landline or cell or both). So when we do a telephone survey we fail to cover about 2% of all households.Nonresponse error occurs when we fail to reach the entire sample. This type of error can occur in two ways – refusals and the failure to contact some individuals in the sample.Measurement error occurs when our measures of some concept fall short in some way. For example, the way we word our survey questions can introduce error. It turns out that it matters a great deal whether we refer to global warming or climate change when we ask people questions.Our survey design should clearly describe how we plan to collect our data. We should consider the different ways that error might enter into the data and how we will try to minimize that error.

Preparing the case study [adapted from Buchbinder, Cox, & Casciani, 2014]: (a) Read the case study to identify the main point and key players. Highlight the main points and identify themes. Review, asking questions: What is really going on? What are the problems? What is the main issue? How do the problems relate? What are the underlying issues? Describe how or why these issues developed. (b) Research the problem or issue you have identified to help frame the issue and to make connections to secondary issues. Use journal articles, and not website-based sources. (c) Decide how to “solve” or manage the issue. Consider who should be involved: what their responsibilities might be, strengths and weaknesses, and so on. (d) Identify at least two alternative solutions and analyze their strengths and weaknesses (or describe why they would or would not be effective). (e) Select the best alternative and explain how you will measure effectiveness. 
Writing the case study [adapted from Buchbinder et al., 2014]: (a) Include a background statement to introduce what you will write about. Summarize the scenario, but do not restate the scenario. Identify key points, the stakeholders, setting, and situation. (b) Discuss the specific issue and secondary issues and how they relate. Support your analysis and explain your reasoning. (c) Describe the role perspective contributing to your solution, identifying strengths and weaknesses. (d) Describe alternatives and the pros and cons of these. (e) End with a conclusion that addresses how to evaluate the effectiveness of the solution, or describe how effective measures should be measured. Some case studies may conclude with a discussion of implications from the case.

Too often, we work hard to produce valid findings about an issue but overlook the process of communicating those findings to key stakeholders. Relaying pertinent information is a key element in the successful adaptation of your proposed solution. Developing a clear and concise message is the first step in communicating findings to administration, peers, and subordinates. You need to explain to your audience how your idea will solve the problem in an effective manner. The message should convey inclusiveness as opposed to isolation. Communicate, as if you are a member of the team, that your decision is not what’s best for you but what’s best for the entire organization.There are several methods you can use to ensure your communication is effective:Training: Using training to communicate your findings, decision, or policy change ensures comprehension and understanding.Personnel Meeting: Scheduling a personnel meeting is another effective solution for communicating with administration, peers, and subordinates. Using this method, your audience is able to ask questions and gain more insight into your decision.Written Directive or PowerPoint Presentation: This form of communication has proven to be successful, as it reduces the possibility of misinterpretation or ambiguity.Effective leaders within the field of criminal justice communicate findings in a manner that is not authoritarian. The communication should be empathetic and compassionate, even if the change is unsavory for those directly affected.Prepare a detailed short paper that thoroughly answers the following questions: What is the best approach to relaying this information to employees and civilians?
