Tasks
Families depend on the internet to find agencies, and web sites are often the first impression of an agency that a family forms. That said, many have limited internet access, and your agency should have a brick-and-mortar facility that provides services, not be web-only.

Research and identify one local public social services agency that serves clients with disabilities and their families.  The agency must be accessible to families in the greater Los Angeles County area.  
Explore your agency’s website site fully, and describe the types of information available on the site.  Who is the client population? What services does the agency provide, and to whom? How readily available are they? (walk-in, referral, appointment, etc.) How expensive are they, and how flexible is their pay schedule? What do you see as the strengths/weaknesses of the agency?  What do you see as the strengths and weaknesses of the site? How helpful to a person or family member of a person with a disability would the site and the agency be?

If You Don’t Have Anything Intelligent To Say…One of my favorite things about social media is its ability to band together and help marginalized individuals. On Netflix, a show called Diagnosis uses social media to crowdsource diagnosis for patients who have had no luck with their current care. As all of you don’t have Netflix, I opted for a simpler video. If you are able, though, I highly recommend the show. I can get lost for hours on TikTok watching young people call out racist, homophobic behavior. I really love it when folks go deep and find these horrible people to warn others of their real persona. We looked at technology-based industries and the management of innovation. For this week’s assignment, review Tesla: Disrupting the Auto Industry, Case 12 (in your textbook). Remember: A case study is a puzzle to be solved, so before reading and answering the specific case study questions, develop your proposed solution by following these five steps:

Read the case study to identify the key issues and underlying issues. These issues are the principles and concepts of the course area which apply to the situation described in the case study.
Record the facts from the case study which are relevant to the principles and concepts of the course area issues. The case may have extraneous information not relevant to the current course area. Your ability to differentiate between relevant and irrelevant information is an important aspect of case analysis, as it will inform the focus of your answers.
Describe in some detail the actions that would address or correct the situation.
Consider how you would support your solution with examples from experience or current real-life examples or cases from textbooks.
Complete this initial analysis and then read the discussion questions. Typically, you will already have the answers to the questions but with a broader consideration. At this point, you can add the details and/or analytical tools required to solve the case.

Case Study Questions:

How are the conventional (internal-combustion-powered) automobile industry and the electric-powered automobile industry similar and how are they different?
Was it a mistake for Tesla to open its patents? Why or why not?
What is Tesla’s strategy? What role does innovation play in this strategy?
How sustainable is Tesla’s competitive advantage? What changes in Tesla’s strategy or its management systems, if any, would you recommend?

had in its original form. Sometimes, this is perfectly acceptable. Newspapers and magazines crop,
enlarge, lighten, and darken photos as a regular professional practice. But if this kind of “altering” of
an image would change the public’s perception of “reality,” then we must question whether the
manipulation is ethically acceptable.
One way to test this ethicality is to ask the viewer/reader if the photograph is plausible. “Or, is the
fictional content immediately obvious?” This recognition factor allows for a fairly liberal interpretation
of what is misleading. It relies on two tests: (1) whether or not the image is implausible and, thus,
readily obvious, and (2) if not, if it is appropriately labeled. The Qualified Expectation of Reality (QER) Test for Photo-Manipulation Acceptability: 1. The viewfinder test.
Is this what the photographer saw in the viewfinder?
2. The photo processing test.
Are the changes routine, and not affecting overall content?
(Cropping, color correction, sizing, etc.)
3. The technical credibility test.
Is it obvious to anyone the photo has been altered, and that the change was made to enhance
visual effect?
4. The clear implausibility test.
Is the photographed image something that could not occur in reality? (e.g., a photo of the Eiffel
Tower wearing a sombrero)
A “news” photo image should be able to pass all four elements of the test.
A “public relations” or “promotions” photo may not need to pass; however, every situation is different.
