Does the internet have its benefits? Sure. Would I say there are a lot of benefits… not really, especially when we take into consideration the drawbacks. At the risk of oversimplifying things the internet essentially uses connections to do everything we were doing before just faster. Is this a good thing? Not remotely. For example, I can search (google, bing, etc.) any question I have on any subject and find the answer much faster than pulling out a textbook (buying the text book in the first place which used to be a much larger industry before the internet), reading it, learning what I am doing, and discovering the answer through learning. That’s all essentially gone thanks to the internet, learning is no longer gaining understanding of knowledge it is just knowing where to find that knowledge. Tradesmen are replaced by youtube warriors, viral videos teach us “life hacks” because we have lost the ability to use glue and duct tape without a reddit thread.Â
Were we really meant to be able to express our thoughts instantaneously with someone on the other side of the planet? Probably not but we built planes when we didn’t have wings. I would agree that being able to chat with someone in Tokyo has its benefits to an extent, but now I don’t have to see another part of the world to think I have “experienced” it the same way Mark Twain did not too long ago. We aren’t more connected, we are more standoffish and more isolated from one another from behind our screens. I agree with a lot of this message but actually don’t think it paints enough of a bleak picture.Â
The internet is a tool, are we using it to tear down or build the future? Who knows. I still can’t figure out what value any comments section on any news article in the history of ever brings to society.Â

Recently, the CEO has been hearing complaints from both patients and staff, varying from long wait times to rude physicians. You have been hired to design and implement a Quality Improvement Plan to help uncover quality problems and to satisfactorily resolve them.
Instructions
The CEO has received some resistance from the Board on undertaking a QI program. She has asked you to develop a set of talking points on the pros and cons of common measurement techniques used in healthcare that she can use the next time she runs into a Board member.
Talking points are used to quickly explain something by condensing it into a compelling, but easily digestible, list. If the goal is to increase support for a QI program, the talking points must provide the ideas she needs to convey in order to achieve the goal.
Your talking points should be submitted in a Word document. Your talking points should include the pros and cons of implementing a QI program.
Upon completion of your talking points, please prepare a PowerPoint presentation (or other shareable Webware/software you prefer) with narration where you will explain each talking point to the CEO so they clearly understand and can answer questions from the Board.
APA formatting for the talking points, and proper grammar, punctuation, and form are required.
Length of PowerPoint is secondary to the quality of the presentation as a whole.
Highlight specific pros and cons of QI programs.
Use the Notes area on each slide as needed to expand on the key points.

The approach to the Project should be a White Paper prepared for and delivered to the senior management and Board of Directors of the company that is analyzed.
There should be NO definitions or extraneous external research presented that is not immediately germane to and related directly to the company and its industry. Only facts related to the company should be presented, particularly in Deliverables 1 through 4.
Deliverables 1 through 4 are analyses of the Current Conditions of the company and the industry; therefore there should be NO proposals or recommendations of any kind regarding what the company should or could do in the future. Any and all such proposals and recommendations must be part of the Final Deliverable only.
The Final Deliverable must be presented as ONE paper, not separate papers.

Neithamer did not reveal his HIV status, but admitted to the property manager that he had dismal credit because he had recently devoted all of his resources to taking care of a lover who had died of AIDS. Neithamer, however, offered to pre-pay one year’s rent. Brenneman Properties rejected Neithamer’s application and, in turn, Neithamer sued under the FHA. Does he have a case? See Neithamer v. Brenneman Property Services, Inc., 81 F. Supp 2d 1 (D.C. 1999). Over the phone, Landlord said to Plaintiff, “Do you have children? I don’t want any little boys because they’ll mess up the house and nobody would be here to watch them. Really, this house isn’t good for kids because it’s right next to a main road.†Plaintiff sues. Landlord argues that her statements only show that she is concerned about the welfare of children. Is that a legitimate non-discriminatory reason to refuse to rent? A local government has decided to knock down two high-rise public housing projects within its borders. The high-rises primarily house recent immigrants from Guatemala. A local advocacy group brings a lawsuit on their behalf, claiming that the government action has a disparate impact on a protected group. Is this a disparate treatment or disparate impact case? Can you think of a non-discriminatory reason why the government may have taken such an action?
