Using the “How Healthy Is Your Community?” search tool, on the County Health Rankings & Roadmap website, look up your county’s health ranking report. Choose a health problem in your community according to your county’s health ranking report. You may use the same one you chose during Unit 2.
Review the list of potential community partners on the healthycommunities.org “Community Engagement” page. Identify at least four stakeholders you could engage with to address the health problem, and do the following:

Describe how each of the identified stakeholders are part of the public health system.
Discuss the linkages between the stakeholders.
Describe how the stakeholders will contribute to addressing the health issue (assessment, program development, program implementation, etc.).
Summarize why it is important to work with the chosen stakeholders to address community health issues.

As a science writer, part of your job is not just to make the science accessible to your audience, but also reveal the process of creating science. In a way similar to the shorter news article you wrote, a long-form essay uses scenic writing and narrative to create a story. By contrast, however, a long-form essay delves deeper into the story by dramatizing the circumstances out of which the science came to be and by dwelling on the findings and why they might matter. 
There is a variety of strategies you could use to develop a long-form essay:
Tell the story behind the research—what got researchers involved in the first place.
Summarize various points of view.
Create a “lens” of language through which you would like your audience to view the science.
Discuss the ethical implications of the research and what it might mean for the public.
Draw from philosophy or literature to express your point of view.
Make your writing scenic and concrete.
Rely on interviews you have conducted to tell the story.
Make astute choices about which details to include and which to leave out.
Employ a prose style that suits the publication in which your essay might appear.

Presentation on Animal CommunicationIn this assignment you will present the communication system of an animal of your choice, which may include visual, tactile and chemical signals as well as vocal signals. (You can’t research an animal we’ve discussed in class, however.)You must do outside research and use at least two separate sources about your chosen animal; at least one source must be peer-reviewed. Synthesize what you find and present the information in terms of Tinbergen’s four questions, as we’ve done in class for frogs, birds, bees and non-human primates. You may optionally include relevant audio or video that you find online. Week 8 DiscussionCOLLAPSESustaining the ChangeA change initiative, no matter how well designed and launched, is of little value if team members revert to the old ways once the initial enthusiasm wears off or they feel management isn’t monitoring compliance.Share an example from your own experience where you have seen a change initiative start off with great promise and then fail to achieve long-term adoption. If you don’t have a personal example, post a link to an article from the Wall Street Journal or other reputable source about an organization that was unable to sustain a significant change initiative.What caused things to slip back to the old ways?
