In Module 2, we’ll discuss what information is and how we can define it, then we’ll explore information as related to data and knowledge. We’ll look at how data is given meaning to become information and how information can then become learned knowledge.
We’ll then take a closer look at information organization. We’ll consider that different ways of organizing information, who does the organization and the pros and cons of the various approaches. Finally we’ll explore the social life of information.
Module 3 is about people. When we talk about people, we talk about their information behavior, how we seek and search, and how we use information. For example, we have students vs. teachers, or doctors vs. lawyers. Would each of these individuals search the same information? Maybe not. because they’re looking at possibly the same subjects in a different context. This will be our particular focus when we talk about people later on in this course. Then we’ll talk a little about how the human heads work, how we perceive the world around us and how we work with the information.
We’ll also explore the differences between people and the computers. Finally we will explore how designers can understand the people they’re designing for.
The third element of informatics is technology (Modules 4 & 5). We will start with a little bit of history exploring where technology comes from. We’ll take a broad view of technology as not just high Tech Devices. We’ll look at some of our newest technologies and consider how they relate to older technologies, how are the technologies similar and how are they different? We’ll take a look at social media technology as well.
INFORMATICS VS. OTHER DISCIPLINES
How does informatics differ from other disciplines?

Computer science, for example, is more about the software, programming, and the writing of applications, whereas informatics takes the technology component into account.
Information systems and technology focus on the technological aspects of information systems. This can be everything from hardware, software and other infrastructures.
Library and information systems just focus on information and not so much the people and the technology part. That is because that field really looks just at how people organize and access information from libraries.
Human computer interaction, it is typically known focuses on how humans interact with the system. We’ll explore this aspect a little bit in informatics, but this field is much narrow and it’s focused on the interactions between people and system interfaces.

In this assignment, you are required to apply the Chapter 8 readings in Peppard and Ward to the Cargo Management System we’ve been exploring, particularly in this week’s assigned video lectures. Think of the Cargo Management System as a collection of major modules. Some of those modules will be needed to implement the core information systems (IS) functions of the system. Many of these were discussed in the video materials. Some additional modules would be needed to add additional functions to the system in order to satisfy management information systems (MIS) requirements above and beyond what the transactional system has to supply. The key to this assignment is in breaking down the various subsystems of your system into a list of the modules and functions that would be included. A common mistake is to limit your analysis to just the major functions included in the videos. That’s wrong! The videos discussed operational systems around customer shipments. The system you are responsible for has to include all of the support transactional functions that would also be needed in addition to those operational customer-facing processes. In order for the video functions to exist, the support functions need to be defined as well. (In traditional-IT, we sometimes refer to many of those support functions as master file maintenance.) For example, in order to give the customer an empty container, we have to have containers; so Add Container, Maintain Container, and Delete Container would have to be functions somewhere. In order to have a customer, we have to be able to Add Customer, etc. To depart on a trip, we have to be able to Add Trip, etc. The maintenance/support functions will often overtake and outnumber the core mission-focused functions. When speaking of the church, theologians often use terms such as the visible and local church as opposed to the invisible and universal church. [1] The visible and local church is, of course, the physical churches that we see around us and around the world, as well as the members of those churches. Id. The invisible and universal church, however, refers to all believers everywhere and is one church, united in Christ, not many physical churches. Id. With that in mind, I also considered that our faith should manifest good works in and around us. As discussed by Gary Demar in Are Pastors Finally Getting the Message About Politics?, he states “if people are being hurt by bad governmental policies, we are obligated to work to change them. [2] If people are being enslaved by programs promoting dependency and pre-born babies are being killed by the legalization of abortion, how can any Christian say we shouldn’t be involved in politics? Why can’t we do evangelism and be politically active?”I don’t think obeying the law or running into any barriers ever compromises the Lord’s mission—it’s merely redirecting us to take a different path to the same end goal. After doing the Social Readjustment Rating Scale (SRSS), I learned that I fall under the category of “Major life crisis”. I am very aware that I am stressed but I did not recognize how much stress I have been building up with in the last year. I learned that I have an 80 percent chance of illness and most definitely should find ways to cope with stress. My stress comes from all over the place. They range from financial issues to multiple recent deaths in the family, College work, and even a marriage separation. The hassle of my job and constantly having to fix others’ mistakes and having two ladies on maternity leave just add to my already full plate. I try different ways to cope with stress. These include meditating, working out, and worshiping, just to name my top 3. As we read in the book, “if your stress level is too high, an adjustment in your activity or lifestyle may be needed.” (Coon, et al, 2022) Meditating and working out have helped me a lot with stress. When I feel at my highest, I tend to go harder in the gym and leave the stress there. Also, meditation helps me really calm down and release all the negative and fill up with positive energy. It really depends on my stress level whether I want to burn it out at the gym or breathe it out with meditation and yoga. I am a strong believer in God and when I feel like throwing in the towel, I love worshiping with my children and singing “god songs” as they would say. Clearing my head of stress helps me academically achieve much more. I am able to read and absorb and be more “on top” of myself and my classwork. Always keep in mind stress is temporary.

According to the Social Readjustment Rating Scale, I scored at 388, which tells me I am highly stressed and have a higher chance of developing a Stress Related Disorder. I can see this, and I acknowledge that. These past years have been incredibly challenging. While writing this, I have looked at myself in the mirror and I have a lot of mental work to do on myself.

Some of the things that came up were, Minor violations of the law, change in sleeping habits, change in eating habits, change in number of arguments with spouse, and gaining a new family member. Some of those things are not so bad, and others are. Like I mentioned above, I acknowledge them and plan to seek professional help. Some of the things I realize I can control on my own, such as violations with the law, I got a couple of speeding tickets, and changes in eating habits.  
I plan to take care of myself much better the I have before. I’m that person who everyone runs to for help, and at the end of the day if I need help, who can I run too? This is something I am constantly working on. I feel as if I am blessed so let me bless others, But I have learned the difference in blessing others and being taken of granted. I have started to read more. Take at least 30 minutes to an hour to read and relax myself, with a glass of wine to help. 
My life is unconventional, I am a stepmom and a Nana. My life has changed substantially in the past years. In order for me to be great for them, I must take care of me. Being their stepmother and Nana has gave me a whole new purpose in life and I want to be able to give then all of me without any interruptions. By looking for professional help, this will also make me a better student.

According to an article by NASA, “the rising of CO2 can stimulate plant growth, research has shown that it can also reduce the nutritional value of most food crops by reducing the concentrations of protein and essential minerals in most plant species. Climate change can cause new patterns of pests and diseases to emerge, affecting plants, animals and humans, and posing new risks for food security, food safety and human health” (2021). My personally opinion is that we need to start realizing what we are doing to our climate and try to adjust our lives to where we are using less fuel and not cutting down trees for no reason. This is my answer

The customer-centric supply chain is a process whereby all consumers experience enhancement initiatives set to distribute final goods from the suppliers to consumers. It focuses on providing a positive consumer experience on the process or point of sale and after-sale to generate profit for the business and bring about competitive advantage. This narrative points out that if the business does not engage in a Customer-centric supply initiative, it may collapse or not perform well in the future. Hence bringing the aspect of too risky not to incorporate the process may influence the business negatively in the future.
According to Lora Cecere, the founder of the supply chain insight initiative argues that adopting customer-centric and outside building processes is more challenging, especially to the traditional supply chain thinkers (Cecere, 2013). The procedures of inside-out firmly and incorporated into orders and the purchase orders. Stimulating this prototype is viewed as too risky by many readers, but the insight is not the reality. However, the riskiest path is just doing nothing or not attempting.
In Her journal, Lora illustrates how she documented a customer-centric supply chain blog in 2020. The company developed one of the most efficient customer-centric supply chain models, hence outperforming its competitors from the industry. According to Lora, about 95 percent of companies fail to accomplish the customer-centric model to initiate an outside-in process. Her argument on developing the ‘Sleep Number’ model hopes to break the traditional paradigm in many companies.
The Sleep Number model produces Beds, but the business focuses on its customers’ wellness and health. This model on the supply chain designs delivers growth twice more than its competitors, outdoing them in costs, Return on investment capital, and profits (Plank, 2015). According to the report, the company is growing twice higher than other companies due to its primary focus on customer experience. The company has excelled in many ways, such as operating more than 600 stores in 50 states and winning an award in JD Powers concerning customer satisfaction.
