I’m working on a psychology discussion question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.

This discussion assignment is designed to provide an opportunity for you toexplore how survey design principles apply to the modern context of communicating one’s attitudes using social media, anddiscuss practical applications of survey methodology with other students. The issue of designing rating scales is relevant not only to psychological research but also to a variety of practical applications such as marketing and social media where response scales can provide a tool for people to express their thoughts and feelings. The following article from Wired magazine describes Facebook’s transition from a single “Like” button response option to a broader range of emojis that Facebook users can use to express their responses to other people’s posts. The introduction of these more differentiated response options drew on the expertise of Dacher Keltner, a social psychologist at the University of California Berkeley.Facebook Reactions, the Totally Redesigned Like Button, Is HereRead the Wired article and reflect on the design decisions that the Facebook engineers made to expand the range of expressivity of reactions that people could use to provide feedback on other users’ posts. Then post to the discussion any thoughts that you had about how the design of these emoji response buttons relate to the information about response formats in survey research that were discussed in this module. For example, here are some suggested topics that you might discuss:Consider how the expanded range of response options might increase the quality of feedback that can be conveyed efficiently when communicating through Facebook. In addition to the emoji reactions Facebook provides the option to leave written comments. These written comments are an open-ended response format whereas the “like” button and emoji reaction buttons are a closed-ended response format. Taking into account the information that we reviewed about the advantages and disadvantages of open-ended versus closed-ended response formats, how do you think these advantages and disadvantages might be experienced in the specific context of Facebook communication? In what contexts do you think Facebook users might be more likely to use the comment option and in what contexts do you think they might be more likely to use the “like” or emoji buttons to communicate feedback to friends? If you had experience using Facebook before and after the emoji buttons were introduced, comment on how the greater range of feedback options changed your experience of using Facebook. In your experience has the introduction of the emoji response options affected the quality of interactions on Facebook?Have you noticed any changes in your likelihood of giving written feedback since the emoji buttons were introduced? If so, what do you think might explain these changes? What limitations are there in using the emoji buttons as a response format?Do you think that the emojis capture a broad enough range of reactions or are there critical types of reactions that seem to still be missing? The Wired article indicated that the Facebook engineers who designed the emoji buttons would have universal meaning. Do you think that the emojis they chose are universally applicable, or do you think that the emojis that they selected might be culturally biased in some ways? In particular, do you think that the emojis map onto the range of emotional reactions in certain cultures better than they map onto the range of emotional reactions in other cultures? If so, do you have any thoughts on how these cultural biases might be corrected?

solved The Internet is a major source of information and research.

The Internet is a major source of information and research. Effectively and responsibly using the Internet as a research tool is a critical skill students will need in whatever career they follow. The purpose of this assignment is to familiarize students with information literacy and the use of the Internet as a research tool. Wesleyan University defines information literacy as:“a crucial skill in the pursuit of knowledge. It involves recognizing when information is needed and being able to efficiently locate, accurately evaluate, effectively use, and clearly communicate information in various formats. It refers to the ability to navigate the rapidly growing information environment, which encompasses an increasing number of information suppliers as well as the amount supplied, and includes bodies of professional literature, popular media, libraries, the Internet, and much more. Increasingly, information is available in unfiltered formats, raising questions about its authenticity, validity, and reliability. This abundance of information is of little help to those who have not learned how to use it effectively.”(“Information Literacy.” Information Literacy Defined, Library – Wesleyan University. solved General NotesWe are finally starting on data collection! This assignment

General NotesWe are finally starting on data collection! This assignment is essentially your planning phase. Things may change between this assignment and your project outline and that is okay! That is part of the research process. As a reminder: It is okay if you have hypotheses, but they are not necessary. You can let the data speak for itself (via your interpretation). What do you see? What patterns are appearing based on your assessment?Remember: This is practice! It does not need to be perfect and it is completely based on your interpretation and your goals with the final project.FormattingPlease use the typical formatting for this assignment: 12 point Times New Roman or Calibri font, 1 inch margins, and double spacing. Please present your work in paragraph format. Keep in mind that a paragraph is 4-8 sentences and should not be near one page long. If your paragraph begins reaching a page in length, break it up!InstructionsWith this assignment, you will begin taking a look at and collecting your data. Please note that you have some parameters on data collection for the final project (you only need a few data points for this assignment): At least 5 posts OR at most 25 posts and at least 3 comments OR at most 10 comments per post. We will cover this more later as well, but this means that you could have a sample of 15 posts with 8 comments each. You will just explain your sample decisions in your methods section of the final paper. For the first section of the paper (with a heading, in paragraph format, and about 1/4 to 1/2 of a page): Discuss the subreddit (remember to consult Subreddit Possibilities.docx Include a linkDescribe what the subreddit is/is aboutInclude information about how many members are subscribed and how many are online (it is probably helpful to reference the video on Reddit in your Week 3 Navigation)Include some general information about what you see, including what the top post is and how many upvotes it hasFor the second section of the paper (with a heading, in paragraph format and about 1/4 to 1/2 of a page): What is your plan for data collection (how many posts/comments?). Please note that this might change and that is okay. Why do you plan on this sample size?Do you plan to search for terms, use “top,” or use “hot” posts?Give an explanation for your answer. For the third portion of the paper, I want you to start taking a look at themes (with a heading, in paragraph format and about 1/2 to 1 page). In your final paper, you should have three themes, but it is okay if you only have one for now. You should be able to use this later. Consider: What are some patterns you notice in what people are talking about? What do they focus on? What kinds of posts do you see?Are users positive? Supportive? Do they provide constructive criticism or advice? How do you know or recognize these things? This is based on your interpretationFocus on three observations that you can make, label the patterns, and explain how you arrived at these labels or identificationsFinally, provide some information about your data organization (with a heading). There are multiple ways to do this (shown in the walkthrough example and the video) and you just need to choose one. See what works for you and test some things out while you look at your data. Explain how you plan to organize your data in paragraph format (about 1/4 to 1/2 of a page)Show how you are organizing your data by inserting screenshots or tables (example provided in your example document and in the lecture video on the assignment)You only need to start with one post and a few comments at leastIf you would like to include more, you can, and it’s less work later!

Topic 1: Define and Describe Your Foreground and Background InformationUsing the PICOT question you identified, rewrite the question for your peers and define the difference between foreground and background information as it relates to your PICOT question. Also, provide a general overview on what evidence is available.Resources:Rapid Critical Appraisal to Evaluate EvidenceRapid critical appraisal is the opportunity to review evidence in a timely fashion. The ability to look at evidence and review it in a timely fashion will help your practice. You will learn how to look at the evidence that is returned from your database search, and identify what level of evidence is available from your search. For example, being able to identify that a randomized control trial is a reliable source of evidence, rather than an expert’s opinion.Five Components of a PICOTRecognizing the five components of PICOT questioning is the most pivotal aspect of evidence-based practice. Through PICOT, you can determine the patient population that you are working with, the intervention that you propose (based on the research), a comparison intervention and then review the outcome and the time it takes to reach the outcome. For example, determining how long it takes for the evidence-based intervention to improve the quality of life of a patient with terminal cancer.P = patient, population, or problemI = intervention, risk factor, assessment tool, or prognostic factor under scrutinyC = comparison (alternative to intervention; at times this element may be absent)O = outcomeT = time (Is there a certain period of time that must transpire for the intervention to produce an outcome? At times this element may also be absent. How to Identify the Corresponding Research Design for the Foreground QuestionAs you develop a PICOT format, you decide what research design you will use that best meets the needs of your clinical question. For example, if the intervention is a medication, then a case control study would be ideal to determine if the medication is effective compared to patients that do not receive the medication. How to Identify the Corresponding Research Design for the Foreground QuestionYou will be able to identify the importance of evidence, recognizing that expert opinion and clinician opinion are the lowest level of evidence, with meta-analysis and randomized control trials at the top of the hierarchy.Difference Between Foreground and BackgroundForeground and background information must be distinguished for effective evidence-based PICOT development.Foreground information can be answered based on scientific evidence about diagnosing, treating, or even assisting patients. This would be the actual clinical question being researched. So, for example, the question of which analgesic works best to reduce a fever in a child would be foreground informationBackground information is broader in scope as it helps develop the foreground question. For this example on analgesic questioning, the background information would be “how do analgesics work in children?”After completing this unit, you should be able to:Outline a rapid critical appraisal to evaluate evidence.Recognize the five components of a PICOT (foreground) question.Identify the corresponding research design that would best fit each foreground question.Identify the hierarchy of evidence.Interpret the difference between foreground and background information.TEXTBOOK INFORMATION

Learning ObjectivesStudents will explain one major course concept. Students will apply their knowledge of major course concepts to a particular subcategory/area of personal interest.Students will create an engaging, educational, and professional presentation.Assignment DescriptionYou will demonstrate your mastery of one disability concept by explaining it in a way that could be understood by anyone from a non-disability studies audience, such as your grandma. The presentation you create should tell a story and be entertaining, and engaging, but also clearly communicate the concept in a manner that is complete, and accurate. This presentation allows you to develop your creative skills using the different FREE campus resources available to all SDSU Students (Adobe Creative Cloud (Links to an external site.) and or Microsoft Office (Links to an external site.)) or other creative apps or websites you are familiar with. You can create a website, PowerPoint, video, blog, flyer, poster, social media post, etc., to demonstrate your mastery of one disability concept. You might want to choose a topic that you can use in your work, educational, personal, and/or community life. Or just pick a topic that resonated with you during the course. Some examples may include but are not limited to: Ableism in education Travel accessibilityAssistive technology for communicationSex, disability, and online datingDisability access & employment opportunities in your career fieldIntersectional disability history & More… Planning Your PresentationReflect on what you know about the disability concept you will be communicating in the presentation and decide on the important information you should include in your presentation:Definition: Write down a clear definition for/description of the concept you will communicate. Main Points: List the key points you think are important for people to know or understand about the topic. It is ok if there are some things you are unsure of. Be sure to write these points down too as you will learn more about them in the next step. Applications: Think about how the concept you have selected plays a role in everyday life. Come up with a few ideas that illustrate the concept in action or shows how this idea has been demonstrated in society. Reflection: Identity what aspects of the concept are not clear to you or where you might have gaps in your knowledge based on what you have identified in the three points above.Research the concept to make sure that you fill any of the gaps that you identified above and have a clear understanding of what the disability concept is to be communicated in the presentation. Presentation RequirementsMake sure that you consider how examples may have been used to explain the concept in your class notes, power points, and/or Top Hat e-textbook, and other relevant sources. Your presentation must include the following: An accurate definition/description of the concept.Address 3 key points about the subject that you want to communicate to your audienceProvide 1-2 examples that illustrate your points.Be creative and engaging for your target audience.Tell your audience why YOU personally feel that this is an important concept for people in the community/ workplace/ family, etc. to know about.Provide references and resources. How To Create Your Presentation You can make a webpage, social media post, infographic, PowerPoint, 1-minute video clip, poster, song, etc. The opportunities are endless. We recommend utilizing the free tools available to ALL SDSU students using the Adobe Creative Cloud. Which can be accessed and downloaded here (Links to an external site.) using your SDSU RedID.
