Best Financial Ratios
This week we covered Chapter 14, Financial Statement.  Financial Statement is the use of different calculations and formulas to determine the financial health of an organization.  Lean Manufacturing and Activity Analysis is about eliminating waste and focusing on the movement of goods and services in respect to customer demand.  In regards to financial statements, please pick out four ratios discussed in the chapter that would best analyze the company you chose in Week 1’s threaded discussions.  Discuss why these are the best calculations for the company you chose and in detail explain how they effectively analyze the financial health of that firm.
Please make an initial post and two replies to either your classmates or professor.  The initial post must be at least 75-150 words with one external reference in APA format, while your replies must be at least 100 words.

Week 8 Discussion
COLLAPSE
The financial statements of an organization rely on its performance. Managers, lenders/creditors, employees, and investors need the information to evaluate a company’s financial position. Investors need well-analyzed information to get the financial data ratios are computed. Financial ratios include profitability, liquidity, solvency, and debt ratios. Abercrombie and Fitch Company’s financial statement for the year ending January 30th, 2021, is analyzed below using a ratio. All figures in thousands
Profitability ratios
These ratios show the company ability to convert its assets to revenue considering shareholders equity, operation cost
Assets turnover=net sales/average assets
Net sales=3125384
Average assets=1657451
3125384/1657451=1.88 since the ratio is above; it indicates the company is utilizing its assets well to generate sales/revenue
Liquidity ratios
Shows the company’s ability to finance its current obligations using the current assets available.
Current ratio=current assets/current liabilities
Current assets=1661629
Current liabilities=959399
1661629/959399=1.73 implying that the company can pay its obligation using the available current assets.
Solvency ratio
Indicate firm’s capability to have long term survival in the market, also referred to going concern of an organization.
Debt ratio=total liabilities/total assets
Total liabilities=2365590
Total assets=3314902
2365590/3314902=0.714 the debt ratio is above 0.6, which investors prefer. The management needs to reduce liabilities.
Debt equity ratio
Indicates the financing source of a company, either equity or debt, from financial lending companies.
Debt/equity ratio=total debts/total equity
Total debt=343910
Total equity=949312
343910/949312=0.3622 below one means owners’ equity finances the company shareholders equity. Management needs to maintain its shareholders.
Earnings per share=net income-preferred stock dividends/average common shares outstanding
Net income= (114)
Average common shares=63
(114)/63= (1.82) negative earnings per share are bad for a company. The shareholders are at risk of quitting the organization. No investor can risk investing in the business. Hence the management needs to reduce operating expenses for better revenue.

Ratios
COLLAPSE
The four Ratios I choose for Lowes are Asset Turnover Ratio, Ration of Fixed Assets to long Term Liabilities, Current Ratio and Quick Ratio.  All of these have to with Assets and Liabilities within the company and I think theses are the most important ones for Lowes to know how their assets vs their liabilities are helping to bring profit.
1. Asset Turnover- is important in the fact that it lets Lowes know how effectively they are using their assets, to generate revenue.
2. Ratio of Fixed Assets to Long Term Liabilities- is also very import to Lowes in that how much fixed assets they must support to pay their long-term debt for example any Pensions or postretirement for employees.
3.  Current Ratio- would be how Lowes’s assets and liabilities compare to be able to pay short term obligations. It is how they can use their current assets to keep its current debts paid.
4. Quick Ratio- It is how Lowes would pay their current liabilities with quick assets they have such as cash, and accounts receivable.
Week 1
COLLAPSE
The company I am choosing for this week 1 discussion is VF Corporation. VF was founded in October 1899; the company is first established in Pennsylvania as the Reading Glove and Mitten Manufacturing Company by John Barbey and a group of investors and is Headquarters in Greensboro North Carolina. VF is an American worldwide apparel and footwear company with brands including Timberland, Vans, Dickies and many more. The company’s more than 30 brands are organized into four categories: Outdoor, Active, Work, and Jeans. The company’s revenue averages 13.8 billion annually. VF Corporation relies on managerial accounting due to planning budgets, Marketing and Overhead cost. They also must make decisions on selling products, directing and motivating almost 70,000 employees, controlling their plans and Performance Evaluation to run the company.

Instructions: Choose three of the four prompts. Your answer for each prompt MUST be written in a single, coherent essay format– you will lose points if the answers are in bullet points or broken up responses. There is no limit on how much or little but ideally about 600-1,000 words each. Question 1: The Myth of SisyphusChoose one example in which Camus characterizes the absurd, describe it in your own words. Camus says that the absurd is a relation between humankind and the world – explain this and use the example you chose to illuminate the concept. Why is the absurd so problematic as to inspire Camus’ famous opening line that “there is but one truly serious philosophical problem, and that is suicide.” (Hint: do not argue (yet) with Camus, pretend you are him, and reconstruct the argument/problem in your own words – be sure to emphasize the thoroughness and power of absurdity). Camus claims that without a middle way through, there are two responses to the absurd: nihilism and philosophical suicide. Define both of these, then describe how they are (insufficient) answers to absurdity according to Camus. Camus’ middle path is ‘radical acceptance’ of absurdity. Describe this radical acceptance in your own words and the ‘three consequences’ it inspires. Finally, choose one of Camus’ absurd heroes – the lover, the actor, and the adventurer. Describe how this character employs the three consequences to face the absurd and live in spite of it. Once you have constructed a charitable vision of Camus’ absurd hero, do you also think that they are a hero? Do they live heroically and overcome the problem of absurdity? Give an argument why you think so, or why not.Question 2: Existentialism is a HumanismExistentialism is a Humanism was a public lecture meant to aid in vindicating existentialism from two very public concerns/objections. What are these objections (hint: use the lecture slides). Choose one of them and develop its argument against existentialism in your own words. In response to these objections, Sartre begins by defining Existentialism as the school of thought for which “Existence Precedes Essence.” What does this mean? Give an example. When it comes to humans, why does the precedence of existence become a problem (hint: it has to do with permissibility and freedom). Define ‘radical freedom’ as Sartre understands it. Radical freedom leads us to anguish, abandonment, and despair. Define each of these three attitudes and how they relate to one another in the context of being radically free. Sartre responds to the second set of charges by claiming that freedom necessitates intersubjectivity. What is intersubjectivity according to Sartre? Why does the project of living in a radically free way commit us to the freedom & being of others. Define ‘bad faith’ in your own words. Use an example of acting in bad faith that illuminates why Sartre thinks bad faith runs counter to the intersubjectivity of radical freedom. Finally, do you think that Sartre has adequately rebutted the objection that existentialism is inhuman and impersonal? Give an argument why you agree with or disagree with Sartre’s conclusion that ‘existentialism is a humanism.’Question 3: The Ethics of AmbiguityWhat is the difference between ‘ambiguity’ and ‘absurdity?’ Why does Simone de Beauvoir object to understanding existence as ‘absurd,’ and instead favors the idea that existence is ‘ambiguous’ (Hint: see the second word of the title of the book)? ‘Ambiguity’ is supposed to be a quality of consciousness inspired by the two forms of being that make up what it is to be human: the ‘for itself’ and the ‘in itself.’ What are the ‘for itself’ and ‘in itself’ in human Being, and why do they inspire ‘ambiguity?’ How do these forms of consciousness and Being relate to ‘natural freedom’ and ‘ethical freedom’? Define both natural and ethical freedom as you give your answer. Why do an ethics require willing ‘ethical freedom’ – why can’t natural freedom do the job? Choose EITHER the ‘serious man’ or the ‘sub man’ – explain what sort of person this is (using an example) and why they fail to will freedom in the right way. The ‘positive aspects of ambiguity’ give rise to a methodology for an ethics of ambiguity. These positive aspects are the aesthetic attitude, freedom & liberation, the antinomies of action, and ambiguity. What is the aesthetic attitude, according to de Beauvoir? What is the relationship between this attitude and the communal project of willing ethical freedom? What is the antinomy of action and why does it pose a problem? De Beauvoir argues that the ‘future’ can help resolve the antinomy of action – what does she mean by ‘future’ and how is it supposed smooth over the antinomy of action? At the end of the day (and book), de Beauvoir admits that there is no escaping ambiguity, even by willing a finite future for the sake of liberation and ethical freedom. Is her ‘methodology for an ethics of ambiguity’ enough to make the world a better place? Give an argument why you think so, or why you think not.

Quick responses to two classmates discussion one: The emerging issue in healthcare that I chose to discuss for this assignment is health informatics but particularly the increasing amount of data collection and how this information is being collected, stored, and even shared. We live in a world of evidence-based medicine and although that “evidence” has and continues to serve us well in its practical sense, the way we safeguard that information has recently been threatened. Ways to breach cybersecurity continue to become more sophisticated and can leave long-lasting effects on anyone who becomes a victim. There are a few obstacles that we are facing when it comes to data. The term “Big Data” is used to describe the large amounts of information that is being collected, categorized, and disseminated among state and federal agencies, local organizations, and even within communities (Islam et al., 2020). This information is useful in that researchers, or data analysts use this qualitative and quantitative data to understand a population or an individual patient. People are living longer, and data collection is starting much earlier in life, but who has the right to all your medical data? You have hospital records from your birth, pediatrician records from your childhood, records with your family practitioner in addition to any specialty provider records you might have been subjected to in addition to any ancillary services; dental, vision, radiology, physical therapy, and so on. However, in there the problem lies; databases do not communicate well. Not to mention, within each database/server the potential for another breach of information with all your personally identifiable information. A breach in medical data can be detrimental to individuals, populations, communities, governments, and even national security. References:Dalrymple, P. W. (2011). While many different factors can influence health, including lifestyle choices, genetics, race, gender, community, and economic status, climate change affects us all. According to Salihu and Azuine (2020), climate change is a global health threat responsible for many diseases and deaths. When researchers go upstream and look for root causes of diseases and epidemics, they often find connections to climate change. According to the World Health Organization (n.d.), climate change increases zoonotic diseases and epidemics globally. Climate change and global warming have caused a shift in how vectors and pathogens breed and survive. Global warming has caused vectors including ticks and mosquitoes to survive longer, reproduce more, and spread deadlier zoonotic diseases to humans (WHO, n.d.). Climate change is also responsible for extreme weather patterns, which causes millions of deaths. According to Ebi and Hess (2020), rising sea levels, heatwaves, flooding, and hurricanes caused by climate change, directly and indirectly, cause famine, poverty, droughts, wildfires, air pollution, respiratory illnesses, heart disease, and mental illness. Unlike other emerging health threats, climate change differs because it is surrounded by political controversy. According to Dietz (2020), Democrats, Liberals, and moderate Republicans have been working towards improving climate change over time. However, many conservative Republicans believe climate change is a hoax (Dietz 2020). Bringing awareness to the dangers of climate change through health education can be challenging since many people get their information from social media instead of scientific facts and literature. Respond to the following:
#1
Walmart’s strategic planning cycle, which includes the organization’s positioning, information technology, and communications, is exciting and has allowed the organization to gain a competitive advantage. Precisely, internally, Walmart positioned its organization in small towns that everyone ignored and later expanding into other areas (Dyer et al., 2020). Another strength displayed by Walmart was its investment in information technology, which improved its distribution process and allowed the company the opportunity to restock inventory precisely and quickly (Dyer et al., 2020). In addition, Walmart’s communication investment and strategy permitted members of the organization to communicate swiftly and without traveling, which saved a great deal of money and time. However, externally, Walmart faced several threats from its competitors. For example, Costco, a low-cost discount retailer, offered lower prices on higher quality products. Aldi’s business model strategy offered lower prices than Walmart; Amazon offered online products that matched or beat Walmart prices, with zero sale tax.
Walmart’s electronic data interchange (EDI) system helps separate the organization apart from other retailers like Target and Dollar Tree. The EDI system provides up-to-the-minute sales data to suppliers and is one of the primary reasons Walmart can achieve the lowest operations cost in the industry (Dyer et al., 2020). Walmart focuses 10 percent of its United States sales on its apparel compared to its competitor Target, which focuses on 40 percent on its clothing.  Walmart’s advertisement costs in 2010 were only 0.6 percent compared to Target’s advertisement costs of 2.0 percent. In addition, all functions of the organization are focused on achieving the lowest possible costs. These strategies implemented by Walmart helped ensure lower prices than its competitors, and the lower prices are a significant factor as to why Walmart has gained many customers.
Challenges and discrepancies encouraged lawsuits from Walmart’s competitors, which drove Walmart to change the organization’s slogan from “Always the lowest price” to “Always low prices.” In most industries, competitors will likely introduce new business models that change the “rules of the game” (Bereznoi, 2014).  Less than 10 percent of an organization’s overall investment is spent on developing a new business model (Johnson, Christensen, and Kagerman, 2008). However, Walmart continues to produce superior results, and customers choose Walmart due to its cost advantage over other organizations. The cost advantage allowed Walmart to offer customers products at lower costs.
#2
Strategic Planning Cycle

A strategic planning cycle is a process where managers use a set of planning procedures to examine major strategic issues faced by their organization (Lorange & Vancil, 1976). With Walmart, they have developed a strategic planning cycle that directs managers to find ways to improve customer experience through prices and innovation. One way this is done is by having managers go to competitor stores to look for ways competitors are successfully being competitive, and after visiting stores, come to a Walmart company meeting with at least one idea to improve Walmart’s competitiveness (Dyer, 2020).

Competitive Differentiation

After planning a strategic planning cycle, managers need to incorporate a competitive differentiation for the organization to be competitive so that it gains market share (Porter, 1997). A competitive differentiation strategy is a way a company is distinct from what its competitors are doing. Walmart does this by having an innovative business model (Bereznoi, 2014). Walmart’s leaders know the organization faces competition from other companies like Target and the Dollar Store. One way Walmart is displaying a competitive differentiation is by changing its products to cater to consumers who cannot find a product they are looking for at the Dollar Store (costs more than a dollar), but find the prices at Target for the product too expensive. The goal is to get the consumer to shop at Walmart instead.

Value Proposition

Value proposition is how an organization goes about creating compelling products and services customers want that attracts them to do business with them (Osterwalder, et al., 2014). Walmart’s value proposition is designed to show their customers why they should do business with them rather than the online giant Amazon. Both Walmart and Amazon offer several of the same products with different delivery options. Although Walmart does not have delivery vehicles, customers can search for a product online and physically walk into a store and handle the product. Walmart customers can order a product online and drive to the store to pick it up, usually curbside or in the parking lot (Jindal et al., 2021). Rather than waiting on the Amazon delivery van to show up at a consumer’s residence, there is a Walmart store within 10 miles of 90 percent of Americans, making curbside pickup very convenient, especially with many Walmarts open 15 hours a day.

solved On June 28, 1914, a Serbian nationalist, Gavrilo Princip, assassinated

On June 28, 1914, a Serbian nationalist, Gavrilo Princip, assassinated Austro-Hungarian Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife his wife, Sophie, Duchess of Hohenberg. The assassinations are what is said to have ignited World War I. Ferdinand, heir to the throne of Austria-Hungary, was a powerful symbol of the entity preventing the nationalist ambitions of the Serbs, and Princip was part of a secret Serbian nationalist organization called Union or Death that was popularly known as the Black Hand. But did this single even cause World War I? The answer is no, it did not. It may have been a symptom, but it was not the cause. If we take a look at the socio-political terrain of Europe prior to 1914, we see an extremely volatile situation. Nationalism was the trend in Europe and the Austro-Hungarian Empire, a multi-ethnic conglomeration dominated by Germans and Hungarians, was strongly opposed to satisfying the nationalist ambitions of the empire’s many minority groups (Czechs, Slavs, Croats, Slovenes, and Serbs) because doing to would likely mean the end of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. If we look at Europe beyond the borders of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, we see another potentially dangerous situation in the system of alliances that had built up in Europe in the decades dating back to Franco-Prussian War and the 1871 unification of Germany. Germany quickly became a threat to the balance of power in Europe. We have already looked at how extreme German nationalism became, and after a very brief period, Germany was geared up to compete with, if not dominate, the rest of Europe. French nationalists longed for a rematch against Germany, and British nationalists were concerned that their empire might be overshadowed. To prevent a war between Russia and Austro-Hungary, Bismarck forged the Triple Alliance between Germany, Austro-Hungary, and Russia. The Triple Alliance would also serve to protect Germany from aggression by either France or Russia. When Bismarck resigned from leadership of Germany in 1890, Germany’s new leaders let the alliance with Russia lapse and Germany threw its weight behind Austro-Hungary. Germany also supported Austro-Hungary in its efforts to quell minority disturbances. Seizing an opportunity, France quickly allied with Russia and not long after forged an alliance with Great Britain known as the Triple Entente, thereby completing the formation of an alliance hostile to Germany’s Alliance. The upshot of all of this is that there were two large and very dangerous alliances in Europe that could, and did, face off against each other shortly following the assassinations. More details can be found in your textbook. As you will glean from this week’s primary document by Germany’s Von Treitschke, there were many people in Europe who were not opposed at all to what would become known as the Great War. For many, its onset was a cause for celebration. Many had become tired of the drab and decadent European bourgeois society and longed for the opportunity for spiritual renewal and exciting heroism that the war might bring. As you will see, however, that would not be the case as the war quickly became a numbing stalemate of trench warfare between the two sides. The stalemate continued for four years until U.S. troops entered the war in 1918 on the side of the Triple Entente and an armistice was finally called on November 11, 1918.The war saw what is estimated to be between 15 to 22 million deaths, many caused by the 1918 pandemic. It ranks among the deadliest conflicts in human history. It also saw the emergence of the United States as a world power and prompted a redrawing of the map of Europe. The war also resulted in the famous Treaty of Versailles, which solely blamed Germany for the war and is known to have played a role in creating conditions in Europe that led to World War II. Part One Discuss the settlement of Versailles. What were its benefits to Europe and what were its drawbacks? How might it have been improved? Was the settlement too harsh toward Germany? Could it have secured a lasting peace in Europe? Must be 250 words or more.Part Two In the excerpt from “Civilization and Its Discontents,” Sigmund Freud, writing in 1930, discusses the aggressiveness of humanity, describing man “as a savage beast to whom consideration towards his own kind is something alien.” According to the Freud, the evidence is obvious, and one only has to look at “the horrors of the recent World War , to bow humbly before the truth of this view.”In reading the document, do you agree that Freud’s depiction of man’s “inclination to aggression” is an integral part of what we call Western Civilzation? How much of his thought, if any, do you think was influenced by his living through “The Great War?”Finally, how are Freud’s thoughts and conclusions about humanity rubbing against the grain of ideals The Enlightenment, which presumably has guided Western Civilization since the 18th century? Referencing this week’s readings and lecture, discuss the purpose and components of an effective internal control process.  How do the components of the internal control process assist management with compliance of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002?
Part 2
Compare and contrast the differences between preventive, detective, and corrective internal controls in a modern business organization.  Provide a practical example of each type of control.

Lecture
According to Musvoto (2011), “accounting is regarded as a measurement discipline” (p. 97). Our journey continues with one of the methods for displaying a representational model for the way information is communicated. Probably the most common technique, flowcharts demonstrate the flow of data (Bodnar & Hopwood, 2013, p. 38). Flowcharts use symbols to represent steps in the process of communicating data. Common symbols are used in the communication process so that a consistency exists between the creators of data and readers of the data.
During this week’s written assignment, you will select one accounting transaction process and create a flow chart that fully communicates the process of that transaction to the reader. It is important to remember that an organization’s system of internal controls play a dominant role in the transaction process. Because of Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), management is responsible for assessing the effectiveness of an organization’s system of internal controls. Internal controls provide specific standards for actions taken within an organization to regulate and direct activities of the organization (Bodnar & Hopwood, 2013). According to Bodnar and Hopwood (2013) there are three primary purposes of internal controls: (a) reliability, (b) effectiveness and (c) compliance.
Financial reports, especially those for publicly traded corporations, must be reliable to both internal and external stakeholders. Reliability reduces the risk of inaccurate data providing effective reports that enable the reader to make educated decisions. Finally, compliance with federal and state financial reporting regulations reinforces both reliability and effectiveness of financial reports.
Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX) was implemented in response to a number of accounting scandals that occurred at the beginning of the new millennium (Kay & Ovlia, 2014). Congress determined that billions of dollars in net worth was lost because of improper financial reporting creating a loss of public confidence in corporate America. SOX provides several requirements intended to rebuild public confidence and trust in the country’s biggest companies. In addition to Section 404 of SOX, management has other responsibilities related to Sarbanes-Oxley. Section 302 focuses on corporate officer responsibility for financial reporting mandating that the chief executive officer and chief financial officer personally certify that annual financial reports do not contain untrue, misleading, or omitted data or information that could adversely affect the reliability and effectiveness of the final reports (Kay & Ovlia). Chief among the requirements of Section 302 is the maintenance of a system of internal controls intended to ensure the accuracy of financial reporting. Romney and Steinbart (2015) believe that internal controls perform three critical functions: “(a) preventive controls, (b) detective controls and (c) corrective controls” (p. 190). The purpose of SOX, in addition to restoring public confidence and trust, is to create an environment where intentional fraud is prevented and unintentional errors are detected and corrected. IT systems provide an efficient way to fulfill those responsibilities. All of these new regulations and requirements are certified by corporate leadership and verified by outside auditors working in conjunction with one another. The use of flowcharts is one tool that can assist corporate officers in demonstrating that a reliable system of internal controls exists.
Another way that companies can establish a reliable system of internal controls was developed by the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA). The Control Objectives for Information and Related Technology (COBIT) framework “consolidates control standards from many different sources into a single framework” (Romney & Steinbart, 2015, p. 192). COBIT focuses on three areas: (a) management creation of common practices within IT environments, (b) user assurance that adequate IT controls are in place and (c) outside audit review and recommendations on IT controls (Romeny & Steinbart, 2015).
During this week, you will focus on understanding the importance of internal controls in a business organization, and especially for publicly traded organizations. 3a Defining Your ArtWhat is art to you? After reading the section in Chapter 3, pages- (91 and 92 in the text book) on Perspective, (that I copied and pasted it below and made blue).I want you to make a work of art work that meets the 3 notions of the perspectives listed below, so that would be:1, This project should include one or more aspects relating to the three different qualities of perspective cited in the text. Some ideas:A. Cultural perspective. (So this can be about or connected to your country of origin, or the city /place you live in, or any background,circumstances).B. Historical perspective. (graduating high school, birthdays, first crush, first car, best hair cut?)C. Personal perspective. ( This can be personal, like -being born and growing up or other significant thing in you life)The project can be a drawing, photos, a collage of photos, drawing and photos, a movie, music, poetry- written or audio, paint, all the above or any media you want to work with. It should also have a sentence describing what it is so I can follow along. Basically this should describe what you like or don’t like.KEEP IT SIMPLE.PerspectivePerspective is a point-of-view. In a way it is regarding something through a specific filter. Each perspective or filterhas unique characteristics that direct how something is considered. For example, if you were analyzing an artworkin regards to gender, an aspect of identity, you might consider how being male, female, or transgendered mightcontribute to the experience of an artwork. Context or contextual knowledge relates to perspective, in that allperspectives are shaped by the circumstances around them that constitute a kind of background they form within.3 Basic Types of PerspectiveCultural PerspectiveCulture is a complex concept that encompasses the ways that social life effects and informs our experiences. Toquote Stuart Hall:“Culture, it is not so much a set of things- novels and paintings, or TV programs or comics- as aprocess, a set of practices. Primarily culture is concerned with the production and exchange ofmeanings- the ‘giving and taking of meaning’ between members in a society or group… Thus culturedepends on its participants interpreting meaning- fully what is around them, and ‘making sense’ of theworld, in broadly similar ways (Rose 2).”It could be said that growing up in America contributes to an ‘American worldview’. We each may have variationsto this, but unless you were raised outside of the United States, you are strongly (consciously or unconsciously)influenced by an American perspective. This is an example of cultural perspective. Where in the United Statesyou were raised might also contribute contextually to this, as many regions of the country are unique and form aspecific kind of background.Representations, in whatever form they take, contribute to ‘made meanings’ of culture, specifically as visualculture. As Gillian Rose points out- these representations, whether they are high art or advertisements, are nottransparent windows on the world, rather- they interpret the world (Rose 2). When we select and take in specifickinds of representations there is an exchange of meaning that goes two ways. We participate in constructingculture by selecting and elevating certain forms of representations, and that specific visual culture we experiencehas the power to influence our personal view on life.Historical PerspectiveAs time passes, scholarship and research occur and many people become aware of a particular artwork, art form, art style, etc. Recognition may increase (and sometimes decreases). Vincent Van Gogh is an examplehere—totally unappreciated while he was alive, he’s recognized worldwide as a notable painter. Other examplesmight be the negative attitudes towards jazz music or hip-hop in the mid-twentieth century. These currents ofrecognition often spring from institutions like museums, academic writing and journals, college art classes, and arthistory as a field of study.Personal PerspectivePersonal perspectives are formed by the layered aspects that form our individual identities. This could be anynumber of defining aspects such as, gender, class, race, where you were born and raised, education, aspects offamily, group affiliations, etc., and the list goes on. These aspects form our unique biographical experiences thatconstitute our identities and color our personal point of view or the way we interpret our life experiences. You may find that your personal response to art and artworks will change as you learn more about design, artmaking, and the history of art in general. Knowledge and/or education about art usually helps us appreciate andunderstand it.Sweeping judgments based purely on a personal emotional response can be colored with bias and often comefrom having little knowledge of a subject or artwork or the larger cultural context. These are habits of thinking thatinhibit a critical understanding of things that are new to us like artwork. In general, it’s a good idea to take agenerous stance to art forms or artworks we don’t like or don’t understand or just don’t connect toPreviousNext

I’m working on a humanities question and need guidance to help me learn.

Communication is the thread that binds all relationships. If you are engaging in sexual activities then its important to be able to discuss any concerns, desires, or topics that positively or adversely affect relationships. All relationships have ups and downs, but a healthy communication style can make it easier to deal with conflict, and build a stronger and healthier partnership. We often hear how important communication is, but not what it is and how we can use good communication in our relationships. In relationships, communication allows to you explain to someone else what you are experiencing and what your needs are. The act of communicating not only helps to meet your needs, but it also helps you to be connected in your relationship, talk to each other. No matter how well you know and love each other, you cannot read your partner’s mind. We need to communicate clearly to avoid misunderstandings that may cause hurt, anger, resentment or confusion. It takes two people to have a relationship and each person has different communication needs and styles. Couples must find a way of communicating that suits their relationship. Healthy communication styles require practice and hard work, however communication will never be perfect all the time. Be clear when communicating with your partner, so that your message can be received and understood. Double check your understanding of what your partner is saying. When we communicate, we can say a lot without speaking. Our body posture, tone of voice and the expressions on our face all convey a message. These non-verbal means of communicating can tell the other person how we feel about them. If our tone, facial expressions, and body language don’t fit with our words, it is often the non-verbal communication that gets ‘heard’ and believed. For example, saying ‘I love you’ to your partner in a flat, bored, tone of voice, gives two very different messages. Notice whether your body language reflects what you are saying.Listening is a very important part of effective communication. A good listener can encourage their partner to talk openly and honestly. Open and clear communication can be learned. Some people find it hard to talk and may need time and encouragement to express their views. These people may be good listeners, or they may be people whose actions speak louder than their words. Most of us find some experiences or topics difficult to talk about. It may be something that is painful or makes us feel uncomfortable. For example, some people find it difficult to express their emotions. It is often the things that cannot be talked about that hurt the most.If you can’t seem to improve the communication in your relationship, consider talking with a relationship counselor. Counselors are trained to recognize the patterns in a couple’s communication that are causing problems and to help change those patterns. You could also consider doing a course that is relevant to your relationship. It is better to act early and talk to someone about your concerns, rather than wait until things get worse. ;o)Assignment:Choose one (1) of the questions below and write your thoughts and feelings about it (give examples). Type the scenario first so that I know which one you have chosen to write about. No reference required. Reflect, Reveal, Explain, Support, or Debate…express yourself with as much precision as possible. It’s common to experience bumps in the road as you get to know your partner. But, what happens when you find yourself dealing with the same relationship issues repeatedly after reaching your one year milestone? You’ve been together for one year and you’re still fighting over and over again about the same issues. In a recent study 59% of people say that titles like “fiance”, “girlfriend”, or “boyfriend” in a relationship matter to them. Why do titles matter if you’re already getting the benefits of the relationship?Yolanda Hadid (mom to models Bella and Gigi) claims ex-husband David Foster was not “there” for her during her battle with Lime Disease. He cruelly dumped her by callously telling her “your sick card is up”. What is the meanest way someone has ended a relationship with you or someone you know?In a recent survey 50% of people admitted that they’ve been dishonest with their partners in the past and 65% felt that in certain situations it was acceptable to lie to your significant other. When is it ever okay to lie to our significant other? Micro cheating are small things that you do that can come off as infidelity without being physically unfaithful. For example: forgetting to mention your partner in conversation or that you’re in a relationship, excessive eye contact with someone, hiding your phone (these are illustrated to make a point). Do you think these kinds of things are forms of cheating?Jay Z talked about his cheating during his marriage to Beyoncé. Are men now open to talking, giving advise, and supporting each other as far as exposing their feelings, emotions, and failures in relationships with their male friends or male family members?

Introduction
A literature review applies what has been learned through previous research efforts to describe a problem and defend a solution. By synthesizing resources to support a problem and solution, the scholar shows that a new practice or project is founded firmly on the conclusions reached by previous researchers. Your literature review lays the foundation for your doctoral project and will help you prepare to write Project Charter Part 2, in which you will identify the evidence to support the need for your intervention. Provide evidence from the literature to build a case for the needed change. The literature should also support the proposed intervention.
Refer to the PICOT question that you developed in Assessment 3 to identify the keywords that you will use to find articles to support your project topic. Use themes found in the literature to organize your review in a comprehensive and succinct manner. In subsequent courses, you will synthesize this information in a meaningful way as it relates to your project.
Demonstration of Proficiency
By successfully completing this assessment, you will demonstrate your proficiency in the course competencies through the following assessment scoring guide criteria:

Competency 1: Address assessment purpose in a well-organized text, incorporating appropriate evidence and tone in grammatically sound sentences.

Respond to the assessment prompt with appropriate understanding of the topic, scope, and purpose.
Support main points, assertions, arguments, conclusions, or recommendations with relevant and credible evidence.
Produce text with minimal grammar, usage, spelling, and mechanical errors.

Competency 2: Craft a compelling argument.

Anticipate counterarguments or alternative perspectives.

Competency 3: Create a literature review that supports a possible intervention or process change.

Synthesize the information in research articles in support of an intervention that addresses a problem.

Competency 4: Obtain preceptor and practicum approval.

Explain the aspects of the proposed QI/PI project that differentiate it from a research study.

Preparation
Use the Evidence Table [XLSX] provided to analyze and summarize the sources you have gathered.
Instructions
Note: The assessments in this course must be completed in the order presented; subsequent assessments should be built on both your earlier work and your instructor’s feedback on earlier assessments. If you choose to submit assessments prematurely, without considering and integrating your instructor’s feedback, your assessment may be returned ungraded, resulting in your loss of an assessment attempt.
This assessment has been identified as a Signature Assessment. Signature assessments serve a dual purpose: to meet the competencies in the course where the signature assessment appears and acquire skills needed to demonstrate competencies specific to the completion of the Doctoral Project Report. Learners must successfully meet the established criteria for demonstrating competence on this assessment in order to successfully complete the course (see University Policy 3.4.07 Grading).  Completion of this course is a program-specific requirement. Consequently, learners must pass this course in order to remain in good academic standing (see University Policy 3.01.04 Academic Standing).
Write a literature review that supports the problem/practice gap and the intervention. The evidence must show that your intervention is effective at addressing your problem/practice gap.
Your assessment will be graded according to the following scoring guide criteria:

Explain the aspects of the proposed QI/PI project that differentiate it from a research study.

Appropriate DNP doctoral projects implement evidence-based best practices and typically take the form of either quality improvement or practice improvement projects.
Continuous quality improvement enables application of evidence-based standards to produce a desirable change or improvement. While research intends to address a gap in the professional literature, DNP projects focus on a gap in practice or process that is deemed a priority for the specific site.
Key words in the PICOT are used to search the literature for either gaps in general knowledge on a particular topic (research) or, in the case of EBP, identify the best evidence available to address a gap in practice.
For this paper, describe themes discovered in the literature that support the practice change identified in the PICOT. How does this project differentiate the project from a research study? For example, if you have found studies that support your proposed change in practice, describe how these studies relate to the project intervention. If there is a gap in the literature and credible support cannot be found to support the project intervention, you are likely proposing a research study.

Respond to the assessment prompt with appropriate understanding of the topic, scope, and purpose.
Synthesize the information in research articles in support of an intervention that addresses an identified problem.
Anticipate counterarguments or alternative perspectives.
