/in /by adminBackground Info:In this class, we explored the ideas of: – The ways that we humans define our relationship with the natural world. This first unit was critical because the lens through which we view the world, and approach problems, guides how we think and act. – Then we covered some national parks such as Yellowstone & Grand Canyon and looked at the environmental problems that are faced in those places. We discussed solutions, and found there is no single right answer.- Then we learned about diverse cultures to try understand their relationships with the natural world, and the problems that they face, and we found there is no single right answer. For example: We explored Supai Arizona, where the Havasu Indians live and learned about their connection to the sacred land and the history of oppression of native people for their Land.- Then we worked on living mindfully on the planet, and we learned/experienced that this is not easy, and there is no single right way to approach living mindfully. For example: The Everglades to study how exotic species introduced by humans impacts that ecosystem. – And last we looked at carbon neutrality, micro-grids and restoration of degraded lands. For example: We studied the the West Coast (Alcatraz Island) to study alternative energy and how that is being integrated into the human world; and other locales and lessons.-We talked about the three icons of conservation: Gifford Pinchot, John Muir, and Aldo Leopold. Each one had a different view of humankind’s relationship with nature. Look to them, their writings, and their life’s work, for your inner-conservationist. Think. Think deep. Reflect. Prompt: How did you view your relationship with Nature before taking this class? And now, 15 weeks later, who do you identify with most: Pinchot, Muir or Leopold – or none of them, or some combination of them. Why and what does this view of Nature mean for how you act in the future as you go out into that Big Wide World as a citizen of the world. The paper should be 2-4 pages long. Double spaced, 12-point Times New Roman font. This is a reflection paper. You need to think about who you were and who you are now. YOUR answer, should be logically presented in a thoughtful and compelling essay. Don’t worry about research or works cited.

You have been assigned to work in the budget development process of the agency or directorate. The senior budget officer has recently been assigned to this office and desires an information paper on the current Strategic Plan (StratPlan) of the agency or directorate to begin preparing for the next Strategic Plan and budget cycle. The budget director has reviewed your information paper (Individual Project 3). The budget director now desires an analysis and decision support paper. The specific intent is to determine if the agency or directorate priorities are aligned with department priorities, and if not, what are the realignment requirements to correctly align agency or directorate priorities to the department priorities. Using the work completed in Unit 3 Individual Project and your instructor’s feedback, conduct an analysis in support of the budget director’s objectives.
Conduct an analysis of the current Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Homeland Security Quadrennial Review (HSQR), Bottom-Up Review (BUR), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Fiscal Years (FY) 2014–2018 Strategic Plan (StratPlan), and the DHS FY2015 Budget in Brief (BIB). /in /by adminScenario: You are the director of safety and security at a major manufacturing plant. The plant has 1,800 workers and runs three shifts a day. The night shift has about 400 workers on it and runs from midnight to 8 a.m. The security supervisor for the night shift reports to you that there are some unusual activities going on during the night shift involving three of the younger male employees. You decide that you will visit the plant during the night shift to observe this behavior for yourself.
The night you arrive, you realize that you know one of the three young men involved, and he has always been a good worker and a very serious person. You note right away that all three men have an extraordinarily high energy level. They are having a hard time settling down at their assembly points on the line. They are whooping and hollering all the time over the noise of the shop. They are aggressive to the point of pushing other employees around physically. You notice extreme cases of acne and body odor on all three men when you walk by them. Their eyes are glassy and dilated.
At their 3:30 a.m. lunch break, they cross the street to an all-night diner. You notice that they sit with a man wearing a motorcycle jacket with local gang colors. They do not eat, but only have coffee. You see them pay cash to the man with the jacket and he hands one of the three men a small package. When the man with the motorcycle jacket leaves, he mounts a motorcycle and rides off. The three men go to the men’s bathroom in the diner. They are in the bathroom for almost 10 minutes. When they come out, they are boisterous, agitated, and overly animated with their movements.
In your paper, answer the following questions based on the scenario:
How does the drug use in this company affect the coworkers, safety, and company production?
What is the likely drug being abused by the three workers under suspicion?
Why was that drug identified?
Would it be better to involve the police immediately? Why or why not?
Should you refer the workers to the Employee Assistance Program? Explain your decision.
Does the association of the motorcycle gang with the company workers affect the company?
What type of liability could the company face if it does not take definitive action concerning this situation?

Cheryl Thomas RE: Week 1 Discussion
Hello Professor and class,
I live in Maryland (and have my whole life). I am married with two kids, a daughter (almost 20) and a son (almost 13). I have been working in public health (at a local health department) for almost 15 years. I am pursuing a degree in Business Administration. One thing that is unique about my background is I am fortunate to have traced my family on my dad’s side to the 1600s. My mom’s family comes from Germany and it has been traced back to WWI. My dad’s side was traced back to the early 1600s, all in Maryland.
The company I am selecting is Marriott. An influential stakeholder associated with Marriott over the past 12 months is David Rodriquez. He is Marriott’s global chief human resources officer. He also was HR Executive of the year in 2019. Mr. Rodriguez promoted and executed, during the pandemic, the furlough of employees. During the furlough, he  also was instrumental in developing all salary cuts for the executives. These salary cuts went towards the health insurance coverage of the furloughed hotel employees. His actions were for the good of the company. Marriott has been voted one of the top world’s top employers, with an 85% approval rating among employees. Marriott prides itself on prioritizing all employees and their well-being. With the pandemic, it has caused the hotel industry to come to a crashing halt. With the cuts necessary, Marriott has been able to at least pay for some of the health insurance costs of employees that are not working.Â

/in /by adminBusiness Presentation
For this assignment you will again assume a management role for the company providing e-courses in the second assignment.
The company has received numerous complaints from dissatisfied customers about the long wait times when contacting the company to request information about courses they purchased. After assessing the problem, the company found the sales and the customer service departments operate in silos. Information about new courses, course updates, and discontinued courses are not shared in a timely manner between the two departments. In addition, when requests for information are transferred between departments, the questions often go unanswered.
The company established a goal to decrease the wait time for customers and improve customer service satisfaction and has decided to adopt a new technology, Microsoft Teams. The new technology allows for a consistent free flow of information between departments. Microsoft Teams will allow employees from the two teams to chat at any time, video call, and even share screens as necessary. It will also be connected to their emails and calendars to provide them with information about who is available to answer questions at any given time.
In adopting the new technology, the employees will continue to perform their current job duties but will work closely as teams, share information, and communicate in a unified voice to assist customers.
As a manager, you are responsible for communicating the change, reasons for the change, and goals of the change to the employees in a video presentation. You will create a PowerPoint presentation and record yourself making the presentation using the Kaltura Capture Desktop Recorder. For instructions on how to record and upload your video to Blackboard, refer to Kaltura Capture, located in the left-hand menu.
For the presentation you should:
Identify the changes occurring in the company and how they will affect the employees.
Provide rationale and examples for why the change is occurring.
Explain how the change will improve their current situation.
Create an engaging PowerPoint presentation that is both easy to read and relevant to what is being said out loud.
Write clear speaker notes with each slide to indicate what will be said during the presentation.

What kind of work does it include? Choose a piece or two to describe. Did you like the work? Why or why not? Which pieces were particularly meaningful? The review should be at least 2 typed pages in length (but will probably need to be a little longer to accomplish a thorough review), double-spaced, 12pt font, normal margins. /in /by adminIn this unit, we focus on the varying complexity of ethical dilemmas, as well as the seven-step model for analyzing these situations. Consider one of the following scenarios described by a professional, and describe how you would respond using the seven-step model. (Please put in the subject line which scenario you are discussing.)Scenario 1:The Medicaid waiver agency where I am providing behavioral services, billed for behavioral services that were not provided to the client. I am sorry to say this was probably not just an error because this is not the first time the agency has done this. My ethical conflict is that the agency did provide another service the family desperately needed, so the family has not reported the agency. The family did not want to lose the best personal care attendant they have ever had. Does this balance out? The family and child really did need this personal care attendant. Can I get in trouble for not reporting this? And, I don’t even know to whom or how I would report this (Bailey & Burch, 2016, pp. 344–345).Scenario 2:In our district, there is a BCBA who charges the school district and other agencies a lot of money for providing services to children with autism—and I mean a lot of money. He tells people who are more than just a BCBA that he is one of the very few behavior analysts in the country nationally certified as a “Behavior Analyst for Verbal Behavior.†What should I do about this? I am not inclined to approach him and would rather deal with someone else (Bailey & Burch, 2016, p. 341).Scenario 3:Where I live, many BCBAs working in the area of autism promote interventions that are ineffective or not based on research. Examples are casein-free diet, essential fatty acids, facilitated communication, auditory integration training, sensory integration therapy, secretin, megavitamins A, B6, and C, and chelation therapy. These BCBAs say, “I just don’t want to argue with the parents; they want to try these things and are willing to pay for both them and behavioral services. As long as it is not hurting anything and my programs are working, I don’t see this as an ethical issue†(Bailey & Burch, 2016, p. 345).ReferenceBailey, J. S., & Burch, M. R. (2016).
