solved Race is not an easy topic of discussion. It often

Race is not an easy topic of discussion. It often sparks strong feelings and emotions. When examining race in the context of disparities in the criminal justice system, there are grouping themes. Some maintain that the disparities are the result of the system operating as a giant sieve to differentiate offenders and, as such, more men of color are placed under correctional authority because they commit more crime. Others maintain that the sieve is racist, with the system treating men of color more harshly in comparison to the way white men are treated. A third group maintains the criminal justice system operates within the broader context of societal racism and represents a mechanism for its expression.
Regardless of the reason, racial disparities are an area of importance in criminal justice. Let us look more closely at the issue.
In your initial discussion post:

Determine the impact of high minority incarceration rates on minority communities.
Analyze the implications of high minority incarceration rates on the effectiveness of the criminal justice system.
Correlate the close relationship between politics and criminal justice policy, and issues of race and punishment.
Lay out two important steps for reducing racial disparities in punishment.

argument or arguments are being made about the dangers of A.I.? Please explain in your own words
what you see as the key parts of the text, making sure to explain any important terms. 2. Reflecting upon the kinds of A.I. discussed in your case study, tell me: how can this technology be made
to work so that it avoids the pitfalls or dangers mentioned in the case? Likewise, what do YOU think
constitutes a “good” (as in ethical) use of this technology? (You may want to refer to our readings on
Utilitarianism and Deontology (duty ethics) in composing your thoughts on this final question.)General writing guidelines and other comments:- Essay length: between 1,000 and 1,200 words (which is approximately 2.5+ pages in length).- Format: proper essay structure throughout; please make sure to introduce your topic/case studybriefly as well as offer some concluding remarks; also, make sure to 1) keep your margins within anormal range (not too wide or too narrow), 2) keep the font within a normal range (11-12 point), and3) use a normal font style (Times New Roman, Gill Sans MT, etc.). – Research: no research outside of reading the case study itself .- Referencing of sources: when referring to anything from your reading on the core ethical theories orfrom the Wallach and Allen text, pick a formal citation style (such as MLA, APA, etc.) and use itconsistently; anything (ideas or quotes) you have borrowed or gleaned from these sources, includingparaphrasing, must be acknowledged and cited properly. Again, as noted above: this is not a researchpaper. Please do not go beyond the main readings themselves (case study, core theories readings, andthe Wallach and Allen text) when responding to the above questions.

solved Please choose 2 out of the 3 color coded questions

Please choose 2 out of the 3 color coded questions below to respond to. All of the questions below relate to Part 2 (chapters 9-14) in Born A Crime The legal infrastructure of apartheid rested on racial classification. A person’s classification would determine what areas they could live in, what jobs are made available to them, who they can marry, how police would treat them, and many other aspects of life.a) What are the four main racial categories within the system?b) Describe the process of determining a person’s race. Was the process scientific or was it an arbitrary one? Please explain.c) Can one be moved (“promoted” or “demoted”) to another category in this system? Explain the dilemma of white families/parents who produce a child that the public perceives as colored2. Noah writes, “The curse that colored people carry is having no clearly defined heritage to go back to. If they trace their lineage back far enough, at a certain point it splits into white and native and a tangled web of ‘other.’ Since their native mothers are gone, their strongest affinity has always been with their white fathers, the Afrikaners. Most colored people don’t speak African languages. They speak Afrikaans. Their religion, their institutions, all the things that shaped their culture came from Afrikaners. The history of colored people in South Africa is, in this respect, worse than the history of black people in South Africa” (115-116).This quote is extremely dense (layered). Let’s break it down into parts (A-D), ultimately to answer the question, How does the limbo in which colored people live affect their sense of self and their place in society?Part A: Under what circumstances would a person be categorized as colored in South Africa?Part B: Why does Noah say that for coloreds, their native mothers are long gone? What does this mean in terms of their retaining any native culture (i.e., language, religion, stories passed down, affiliations, moral values, social norms, etc.)?Part C: Coloreds live within the culture of Afrikaners. What does this mean exactly? (i.e., what’s their language, “religion, their institutions, all the things that shaped their culture”) From the Afrikaners’ perspective, is the racial hierarchy and ruling ideology of apartheid right and just?Part D: Why might a colored person’s self-esteem be worse off since they lived within Afrikaner culture, as opposed to those who live with their native culture? Why might native black culture confer a more positive identity (or, self-perception) for its members and a sense of belonging?3.In chapter 13, Noah writes about how he escaped punishment for theft. How does the story of the Balfour Park Shopping Mall theft illustrate the problems of viewing situations through the lens of black and white, or racial categories?reading sources: https://aderie.files.wordpress.com/2018/06/born-a-…

solved Research Paper: This is a graduate course and students will

Research Paper: This is a graduate course and students will be expected to research and write papers summarizing in their own words what they have found on current topics from the weekly readings. Research is a theoretical review of relevant literature and application of findings in the literature to a topic related to a specific industry, field, or business problem.
The research must be conducted using peer-reviewed trade or academic journals. While Blogs, Wikipedia, encyclopedias, course textbooks, popular magazines, newspaper articles, online websites, etc. are helpful for providing background information, these resources are NOT suitable resources for this research assignment.
Please Note: The UC Library staff are very helpful with assisting students in using the UC Online Library journal database. Please contact them if you have issues. In addition, the instructor has provided additional resources, including a research tutorial, in the “Course Resources” folder in the “Content” area of the course.
Assignment Requirements:

Choose a research topic from the chapter readings or from the list provided by your professor.
Research/find a minimum at least four (4), preferably five (5) or more, different peer-reviewed articles on your topic from the University of the Cumberlands Library online business database. The article(s) must be relevant and from a peer-reviewed source. While you may use relevant articles from any time frame, current/published within the last five (5) years are preferred. Using literature that is irrelevant or unrelated to the chosen topic will result in a point reduction.
Write a four (4) to five (5) page double spaced paper in APA format discussing the findings on your specific topic in your own words. Note – paper length does not include cover page, abstract, or references page(s).
Structure your paper as follows:

Cover page
Overview describing the importance of the research topic to current business and professional practice in your own words.
Purpose of Research should reflect  the potential benefit of the topic to the current business and professional practice and the larger body of research.
Review of the Literature summarized in your own words. Note that this should not be a “copy and paste” of literature content, nor should this section be substantially filled with direct quotes from the article. A literature review is a summary of the major points and findings of each of the selected articles (with appropriate citations). Direct quotations should be used sparingly. Normally, this will be the largest section of your paper (this is not a requirement; just a general observation).
Practical Application of the literature. Describe how your findings from the relevant research literature can shape, inform, and improve current business and professional practice related to your chosen topic.
Conclusion in your own words

SOC SCI 172AWAmerican CultureSpring 2021Short Literature ReviewFor the third and final assignment, students are individually responsible for writing a short literature review on the topic of Youth Suicide. This review must be a minimum of 1,500 words, including a title page, abstract, and reference page. APA formatted is required! This assignment is worth 35% of your final grade. Later in the quarter, each student will pick from one of six sub-topics. After the sub-topic has been assigned, each student will write a literature review using three articles (all on the same sub-topic) posted on the course website. You may not use any other articles or sources. The sub-topics are as follows:LGBT Youth and SuicideMinority Youth and SuicideFamily Factors and Youth SuicideBullying and Youth SuicideYouth Offenders/Homeless Youth and SuicidePrevention of Youth SuicideFor this literature review, it is important for students to show their knowledge about the research topic.This literature review is different from an annotated bibliography, which is a listing of articles with descriptions. A critical review is not a string of summaries, it is a synthesized review. In other words, students do not simply write a short review of each research study, but tie the research studies together into a “story” or “conversation.”.This process requires some insight and interpretation, not evaluation. Keep in mind that personal opinions are not included in a literature review.Report what is relevant to your study and ignore what is not. This means you need to read the abstract, the introduction and conclusion of your articles. And, for long articles, focus on the parts that relate to your topic.**At the end of the literature review, you will also need to write a two-paragraph summary of what you have learned about the topic from the three articles. This includes critique and reflection about the “story,” not the individual articles.**Avoid long quotes in your review, and paraphrase whenever possible.Maximum quotes = 2 short quotes (less than 40 words each).Do not quote/cite secondary sources in the readingsCorrect APA formatting is also required – double-spaced, 12 pt Times New Roman font, 1 inch margins all around, APA in-text citations and a reference page. Run spelling and grammar checks and double-check your APA formatting. Be sure to CITE your sources throughout the review.Grading Rubric Short Literature Reviews will be graded according to the following criteria:Content and Development (Total points: 60)Paper adequately synthesizes the key ideas and conclusions from the three articles and puts them in conversation with one another: 60 PointsMechanics and Style (Total points: 40)APA rules of spelling, grammar, usage, and punctuation are followed: 30 PointsSentences are complete, clear, and concise, and the tone is appropriate to the content and assignment: 10 Points

Explain the arguements of both the Federalist and Anti-Federalist. Which side do you agree with and why?
chapter 6-7 -The Unfinished Nation
Classmate 1
One of the great debates in American history was over the ratification of the Constitution in 1787-1788. Those who supported the Constitution, and a stronger national republic were known as Federalists. Those who opposed the ratification of the Constitution in favor of small, localized government were known as Anti-Federalists. Both the Federalists and the Anti-Federalists were concerned with the preservation of liberty, however, they disagreed over whether a strong national government would preserve or eventually destroy the liberty of the American people. The Anti-Federalists argued against the expansion of national power. They favored small, localized governments with limited national authority as was exercised under the Articles of Confederation. They generally believed a republican government was only possible on the state level and would not work on the national level. Anti-federalist also lacked bill of rights. Most Anti-Federalists feared that without a bill of rights, the Constitution would not be able to sufficiently protect the rights of individuals and the states. I agree with the actions of an anti-federalist because They believed local governments best understood what citizens needed and would best protect citizens’ freedom.
Classmate 2
Federalists had to come to an agreement with all states which is the constitution to share power in order to support a structural government that is Executive, Legislative, and Judicial. The three branches limit the power so that the central government could not be as powerful. In the end, they agreed to add amendments known as the Bill of Rights. Focus is more so in the favor of the wealthy with winning people with capital to gain more capital. The Anti-Federalists were a diverse coalition of people who opposed the ratification of the Constitution, Anti-Federalists argued against the expansion of national power. They were worried about the rights of the citizens. Defenders of the true principles of revolution. Constitution increased taxes and weakened the states favor the “Well Born” over the common people. Their biggest complaint was a lack of a bill of rights. I’m in the agreeance of the Anti-Federalists if I had to choose. I’m not into politics whatsoever. I feel it is a way to control and manipulate people. It detaches people from themselves and what it truly means to be on this earth. I consider myself a humanitarian which is why I would go with the Anti-Federalist. They appear to be more so for the welfare of people as a whole. I feel like the world should be a space of peace and unity, not controlled by power and greed. Everyone wants a fair chance of having an opportunity of living and surviving on a fair spectrum financially and environmentally.

Career Project 2:  Portfolio – Three Components – 225 pts. total
Component A: Company Evaluation Report (100 pts.). This report could be viewed as preliminary research for a future job search for someone in your major.  This is in MLA format double spaced, (pg. 37 in the reader) with the addition of step subheadings, not question and answer (no bullet points). Stay 3rdperson throughout.
Start with a small introduction to the content of the report, then set up the steps as sub-headings, keep each company separate within the steps (Step 1, Step 2, etc.). – 1 paragraph.
STEP 1. With your career path in mind, locate three companies that you might realistically envision yourself working for (FBI, NSA, NCIS) or (San Diego Unified District, Sweetwater District, Poway District). They must be the same type of business. See what you can learn about the company by seeing how it represents itself on the Internet.  For example, a graphics design firm will likely have an entirely different look and feel to its website than a law firm would. What kind of information is included on the website? Provide a brief summary of what kind of corporate image each company seems to be portraying through their website. Stay 3rd person throughout the entire report, use a MLA heading. (Note: If you plan on starting your own business, you might want to use this assignment to check out your competition! Contact me first).  This is 3 separate paragraphs, one for each company.
STEP 2. Narrow your search to two out of the three companies based upon your preliminary evaluation.
Why did you eliminate one of the three? (1 paragraph) Then in 1 paragraph for each company remaining, attempt to find out about:

The current financial viability of the company;
The position of the company in the greater marketplace;
The potential for the company’s growth, given its position in the marketplace;
The corporate culture (formal, informal, casual Friday?);
The non-profit organizations supported by the company;
The professional groups or organizations that company employees belong to;
The benefits package (401K, health insurance, profit sharing) for employees.

STEP 3. Now, narrow your search down to one of the two companies (why did you eliminate one of the two?) –
1 paragraph and answer the following questions in1 paragraph for the remaining company.

What is the president’s or CEO’s name?
How many people does the company employ?
How much do people in this field get paid?
How many employment openings are expected in the next year? Five years?
What special skills, knowledge, and experience are you expected to have?
What might you expect as far as promotion and career enhancement in this company? (Women—pay particular attention here!)
What are other important factors you deem necessary to your search (Is the company planning on moving its location? What about commute time, traffic, etc.)?
